In FIFA 21, the new Title Update 7 is being released. It is once again focused on the referees – and crosses are also being adjusted.
When will the update be released? Title Update 7 is now available on PC via Origin and Steam. EA Sports announced this through their Direct Communication channel on Twitter:
Update, December 10: Meanwhile, the update is also available on PS4 and Xbox One. At the same time, “Title Update 1” for the NextGen version of FIFA 21 on PS5 and Xbox Series X is being released. This consolidates several updates into one and brings the version up to date.

This is changing with Title Update 7 in FIFA 21 according to the patch notes
Referees are being adjusted again: EA Sports previously attempted to assist the referees with an update, but there have still been strange decisions by the officials in recent weeks. For instance, tactical fouls against the last man could consistently have been punished with yellow cards where red would have been appropriate. Or there were strange penalty decisions and undeserved yellow cards. This will be addressed in the update:
- The referee logic will be adjusted to distribute yellow cards more sensibly.
- It might have appeared that the ball was placed incorrectly at free kicks. This is also set to change.
- Last-man fouls should be evaluated more logically.
To what extent this update will influence these decisions will become clear in the coming days.
This is changing in gameplay: Additionally, there have been changes. Among other things, sharply struck, flat crosses are slowed down, and the accuracy of volley shots is reduced when the ball comes in with high speed. A popular way to score goals was to volley a sharp cross from the side into the net. This looked rather unrealistic and is likely the target here. However, the nerf should have less of an impact on players who have high crossing ratings.
Moreover, the speed of a player in sprint, who feigns a shot, will be reduced. This results in a speed boost being lost for players. However, one can still rely on the bridge skill move.
This is how the modes are being adjusted
In addition to the gameplay changes, there are several adjustments to the modes. All changes can be found in the official patch notes (via EA Sports). We take a look at the most important ones:
This is changing in Ultimate Team: In FUT, primarily technical issues are being addressed.
- In Squad Battles, the game could load so quickly that one couldn’t see the opposing team in the overview before the game. This will be changed.
- A potential stability issue when playing cooperatively has been addressed.
- Additionally, a problem with the FIFA playtime limit has been fixed, which affected SBC rewards.
This is changing in Volta: In the Volta mode, matchmaking issues have been addressed. Also, a menu error has been fixed.
This is changing in Career Mode: In Career, the match simulation menu has been adjusted when penalties occur. In addition, there was a stability issue when playing with Argentine teams.
