In FIFA 21 you can earn rewards through Icon Swaps 2. But which choice is the most worthwhile for the Icon Swaps tokens?
What are Icon Swaps? Icon Swaps are a way to earn various rewards such as packs or icon cards. Players have to complete different challenges to earn so-called “Icon Swaps tokens”.
These tokens can then be exchanged using the Icon Swaps SBCs. The catch: You cannot earn enough tokens to unlock all rewards; you have to decide how to use your tokens.
Currently, there are 9 tokens available through Icon Swaps tasks that you can earn. The first half of Icon Swaps 2 is online until March 26. The rewards are as follows:
The icons in Icon Swaps 2:
- Baggio (94) – for 17 tokens
- E. Butragueno (87) – for 15 tokens
- Blanc (89) – for 13 tokens
- Overmars (91) – for 11 tokens
- Cole (89) – for 9 tokens
- Deco (91) – for 7 tokens
Pack rewards in Icon Swaps 2:
- 2 tokens for the 81+ x25 pack
- 3 tokens for an 82+ x25 pack
- 5 tokens for an 83+ x25 pack
- 8 tokens for base icon pack
- 9 tokens for mid-icon pack
- 10 tokens for mid or prime icon pack
- 12 tokens for a prime icon pack
- 14 tokens for a 91+ prime icon pack
- 16 tokens for prime or prime moments icon pack
So, it’s a matter of weighing options. Currently, you can only spend 9 tokens before the second half arrives.
Which combinations are worthwhile?
Overall, the new Icon Swaps are not as strong, as they were in FIFA 20. But here are some possible combinations that might be worthwhile for players.
It is important to note that each player has different goals in Ultimate Team. Therefore, we have compiled 3 suggestions that aim at different objectives.
1. Packs for SBC fodder
Who is this option worthwhile for? In the Icon Swaps, there are three packs available at the lower ranks that each yield 25 player cards.
- The 81+ 25 pack for 2 tokens
- The 82+ 25 pack for 3 tokens
- The 83+ 25 pack for 5 tokens
This means you get 25 cards from these packs, each with at least 81, 82, or 83 overall rating. Of course, it can happen that you only receive players with these values – however, the chance is good that you’ll also get some better players.
Opening these packs can be worthwhile, especially if an event is happening that includes strong promo cards. So save them until an event comes up with players you are interested in.
Otherwise, these packs are a good way to get fodder for other squad building challenges. If you are interested in certain player or icon SBCs but lack the means, these packs can be a good choice.
Additionally, you’ll still have 8 more tokens to spend, which could even be enough for a base icon pack or the Deco card.
2. SBC fodder and an icon pack
Who is this option worthwhile for? Anyone who definitely wants an icon but also wants to have a collection of SBC players should consider choosing just one of the packs mentioned above. The best chances of success lie with the 83 pack, leaving 13 tokens to spend.
Now you have a dilemma: You can add Blanc, Overmars, Deco or Cole if you want to be sure of what you get. However, you can also choose to gamble and take the prime icon pack.
It’s the same as always with packs in FIFA 21: There could be a really good player inside, but it could also go horribly wrong. However, the chance with prime icons is higher to pull something useful than with base icons.
The other option here would be to take the 91+ prime icon pack and use the 82 pack instead of the 83 pack. While this does lower the chances for good SBC fodder, you can simultaneously aim for a highly rated prime icon.
This is the problem: Even at 91, there are players that you might consider a loss, such as Alan Shearer, Pires or Laudrup, who are only worth around 200,000 coins on the market. The rule is: With packs, you always risk getting unlucky. But it can also turn out the other way around.

3. The safe prime icon moments combination for chemistry
Who is this option worthwhile for? Prime icon moments cards are virtually impossible to obtain. However, the 18 tokens in Icon Swaps 2 allow you to get two of them at once. These are:
- Overmars (LM/91)
- Deco (ZM/91)
It should be noted: Both cards are not necessarily the best in terms of FIFA 21’s meta. Overmars has only three stars in skill moves and Deco is overshadowed by other cards. However, both possess stats that can make them useful. Deco is a good dribbler in midfield and Overmars has pace for the wing.
Crucially, this is an opportunity to reliably obtain a moments card – and it may be particularly interesting if you otherwise don’t have the coins for icons. They can also help your team by creating chemistry links between players who otherwise don’t fit together.
