Sniping is a popular trading method in the transfer market of FIFA 21. How does sniping work in Ultimate Team?
This is sniping: Sniping involves buying players at the lowest possible instant price. This can be done for two reasons:
- You want to immediately get a specific player for your team but spend as little as possible.
- You want to pick up the player cheaply and resell them for a profit.

How sniping works in FIFA 21
Which players are worth it? It depends on what you want. For your team, it is enough if a player is stronger than your current options and fits well into the squad.
If you are looking for players to sell, there are more options. For example:
- Special cards that others might need for specific SBCs.
- Popular or strong player cards that many want.
- Players whose value might rise soon – for example, because of an upgrade, or because they could be in the TOTW.
Find out your player’s price: If you have decided which card you want, you should determine its approximate value. For our example, we tried to catch Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund. He has just recently become much cheaper. However, he is only meant as an example, not necessarily as a sniping recommendation.
A quick transfer market search without filters brings prices from all directions. This ranges between 46,000 and over 100,000 coins. It is already clear: That is all too much, we want him as cheaply as possible.
Looking more closely, you find many Haaland cards in the range of 45,000, some even a bit less. This is rather the range where you can start. Sites like futbin.com can also help a lot in spotting low prices for players and getting an overview.
Lower your price: Now you start searching for lower instant prices in the transfer window’s search settings. Depending on where you start, you will get an error message. For example, Haaland simply does not exist for 20,000 coins. You can also approach from above and keep lowering the price – until nothing comes up.
We only got a few examples for Haaland with the filter “41,000 coins” – but two were still found. A first success, since this is already 4,000 coins cheaper than the often appearing 45,000. He had just surfaced on the market and was virtually gone again within a second.
But it can get even better: By constantly updating the search, we could even spot a Haaland for 39,000 coins.
The problem: Many players use sniping, therefore there is a lot of competition. The Haaland for 39,000 coins was also snapped up by someone while we were taking the screenshot. As you can see: Sniping is all about speed. Therefore, here’s the whole process summarized.
Sniping guide in summary:
- Find out your player’s price.
- Look for a price that is low enough so that only a few offers appear.
- Buy the player immediately when he appears at the lowest possible price.
- If you don’t get him: Refresh the search in the transfer menu by increasing the bid price by, for example, 100. This will reset the search, and you will get fresh offers at your desired price.
- Strike when the player appears cheap again.
Problems with sniping
What you should keep in mind: When sniping, there are some things to keep in mind – especially if you plan to resell the player.
- There is a 5% fee on players that you sell. You should include this in your price considerations: If you buy a player for 39,000 coins and sell him for 40,000, you will only receive 38,000 coins from the sale value. This is not worth it, so the price difference must be more than 5%.
- Often, opportunities for sniping arise when many packs are opened. For example, when Weekend League rewards or events are upcoming.
- Bids can be cheaper: Sniping works with the instant price, as many players want to get cards all at once. However, you can often get players even cheaper through bids.
- There are price limits: Every player has both a minimum and maximum value for which they can appear on the market. So don’t necessarily expect to get super expensive players for a tiny fraction. This can happen, but it is extremely rare.
- It takes practice: Since sniping is practiced by many, you will often receive the message that a player got to it before you. Especially with popular players, you will face a lot of competition. Don’t let that discourage you and practice quickly navigating through the menus – or try it first with easier-to-get players.
In conclusion, keep in mind that the market is constantly changing. For example, a Haaland cost twice as many coins just a week ago and suddenly dropped sharply. This was due to a market crash that made many players cheaper. So always keep a close eye on the price developments of your players.
