In FIFA 21, there is now a new Flashback Ronaldo SBC. What can CR7 do in the Light variant?
What kind of card is this? The Ronaldo card is a special case, which is rather rare in this form. Normally, Flashback cards are awarded to players who have achieved great things in the past and are meant to remind us of that. Thus, players who are somewhat weaker today receive stronger cards again.
With Cristiano Ronaldo, however, it is the other way around: his Flashback card is actually weaker than his normal card. A similar case occurred in FIFA 21 with Agüero. The new CR7 card highlights his early days at Manchester United when Ronaldo was not yet the superstar footballer he has been in recent years.
This is the advantage: Cristiano Ronaldo’s normal 92-rated card already costs over a million coins, while with his special cards, there’s not even a point in starting. This means that only a fraction of players can even afford CR7.
However, the Flashback Ronaldo in SBC form costs around 300,000 coins according to solutions from futbin. That’s still a lot, but significantly more affordable than any other available Ronaldo version. To acquire him, you need to complete the following 3 tasks:
- An 80-rated team with 1 player from Liga NOS and 1 TOTW (80 team chemistry)
- An 84-rated team with 1 player from Manchester United and 1 TOTW (75 team chemistry)
- An 86-rated team with 1 player from the Premier League (65 team chemistry)
If you already have suitable players in your club, you can trade for the card for even fewer coins. But is it worth it?
Flashback Ronaldo vs. Gold Ronaldo
This is how Flashback Ronaldo performs: If you compare the two cards directly side by side, the important points stand out immediately.
- Flashback Ronaldo is faster than Gold Ronaldo.
- In all other attributes, Gold Ronaldo is better.
- Especially in shooting, there is a significant difference – Gold Ronaldo is much stronger.
- The overall rating of Gold Ronaldo is higher (92).
- Flashback Ronaldo plays on the wing, while Gold Ronaldo plays in the central forward position.
- The weak foot has only 3 stars for Flashback CR7, while Gold Ronaldo has 4.
- They both have 5-star skills.
Overall, it is clear that the Gold version is noticeably stronger than the Flashback version – but that shouldn’t be surprising. After all, you are comparing the same player, valued at 300,000 against one valued at 1.2 million.
Nevertheless, Flashback Ronaldo can be worthwhile for you. Especially if you don’t have an absolute über-meta team that already includes CR7, but you want to improve your current team in specific areas.
Players can equip the card with a Finisher chemistry style to boost the attributes of shooting and dribbling. Then, Flashback Ronaldo becomes a very dribbling-strong, finishing-strong, and shooting-powerful winger. He also pairs well with Dybala, who currently has a good SBC available.
In the FIFA subreddit, there are already many reviews of the card. The consensus: one should not expect to get a Ronaldo equal to the usual Ronaldo with this card. However, thanks to the special animations that Ronaldo has been given, he offers certain advantages over other players.
An example: User “Alisubtain” played 29 Weekend League games with the Flashback variant. He claims to play in Division 1 and normally uses Gold Ronaldo. But this time he tested the Flashback version: “With the right players and the right team around him, he is actually very meta, can lead you to victories and will score a ton of goals. His finishing will always be good because he is CR7,” the user writes (via reddit): “But it’s the tough games later in FUT Champions and in D1 where you really notice the main difference. That’s where the normal CR7 can win games single-handedly, regardless of the team around him. And that’s the difference.”
Overall, the Flashback version is more of a “Ronaldo for beginners” than an endgame card. A version for players who have not been able to afford the standard version so far, but still want to have CR7 in their team. Whether or not to invest these coins or rather save for an icon or something similar should be carefully considered.
