In FIFA 21, the TOTY event is coming soon. Many players are securing their packs for it. Where can you still get them without paying money?
When does the TOTY start? The official start date for the TOTY event is not yet known, but EA Sports has stated that the Team of the Year will be revealed in January. Currently, the voting phase is underway for which football stars will receive one of the extremely strong cards for the event. The event itself is expected at the end of January.
Although the chances of getting a TOTY player in packs are extremely low, many players are now saving their earned packs to open them at the TOTY event to slightly increase the probability. However, it is always important to remember that you never know what you will get from packs.
Some players simply buy packs for FIFA Points. But where can you still get packs if you don’t want to spend real money in FUT and prefer to earn packs? Here are some possible ways to get packs for the TOTY event.
Packs from Icon Swaps
Here’s how to get packs: The Icon Swaps currently offer good opportunities to secure packs. You need to complete specific tasks, primarily in friendly matches and squad battles, which are easy to complete. They mainly cost you time, although many players also simply quit matches related to Icon Swaps and noticeably reduce the time for the tasks. For each completed set of tasks, you receive a token that you can exchange for packs.
Once you have collected enough tokens, some really good pack rewards await you.
- For 3 tokens, there is a pack with 5 players, each having a rating of at least 85+.
- For 2 tokens, there are 2 Ultimate Packs.
- For 5 tokens, there is a pack with 25 players, each having a rating of at least 83+.
But note: This method is only worth it if you do not want many or any of the icon rewards from the swaps. If you redeem tokens for packs with random content, you won’t have as many left for other rewards.
Packs from valuable SBCs
Here’s how to get packs: New SBCs regularly come into the game that you can complete relatively easily and that reward you with packs. It is advisable to keep an eye out every day.
There are some SBCs where you can wonderfully use your SBC fodder from the club, and in the end, you’ll receive packs that are more valuable or useful than the players you trade in. Which packs are worth it, you can find out in our pack overview for FIFA 21.
A fairly safe bet are the weekly “Top Matches” SBCs, from which you can receive tradable packs. In addition, some partial SBCs from the league SBCs are also worthwhile. A few examples:
- The Chelsea SBC in the Premier League section costs players worth about 10,000 coins and gives you a tradable Rare Electrum Players pack.
- The Bayern SBC gives you a Prime Gold Players pack (untradeable) for players worth about 10,000 coins.
- The Leipzig SBC from the Bundesliga section brings a Rare Electrum Players pack (untradeable) for players worth about 10,000 coins.
- The “Final” SBC from the Champions League section brings a Mega Pack (untradeable) for players worth about 9,000 coins.
There are more similar SBCs in the league SBCs. Important: Many SBC rewards are now untradeable (the Chelsea SBC and the Top Matches are exceptions).
This means: The packs you get here generally do not bring you coins. However, they are comparatively cheaper than buying them in the shop and are “free” if you use unused players from your club. If there’s nothing useful in the packs, you at least have SBC fodder again.
Packs from objectives
There are also a lot of packs in the objectives of Ultimate Team that you can earn just by playing FUT. Among other things, some are included in the season progress, where you level up through XP.
A few other objectives you might want to pursue for packs include:
- Co-op matches in milestones. Win 25 co-op matches for a Premium Gold Players pack or 100 for a Rare Players pack.
- Mastery: Assists gives a Rare Players pack when you become the assister in 100 separate matches. It’s worth it if you haven’t got it yet.
- Mastery: Finishing gives a Jumbo Rare Players pack for scoring 500 goals with a team that has a minimum overall rating of 85.
- Additionally, there is a Rare Players pack for scoring 100 goals with finesse shots.
- The objective series “The Silver Experts” brings a Rare Mega Pack along with rewards for part-tasks.
Packs can be obtained from various objectives, and you might already be very close to completing some of them. But remember: These packs are also untradeable.
Packs from rewards
Lastly, there is the classic option: packs can also come from
Here, you can get more packs the better you perform in the weekly competition. If you choose the untradeable option for the Rivals rewards on the reward day, you even get double packs, but you cannot sell their contents. Here, you always have to ask yourself: Are you hoping for players (for example, from the TOTY) that you can directly use in your team? Or do you want to make a profit on the transfer market? In the latter case, untradeable packs are not directly useful to you.
