Update, 27.10. 10:05 AM: The update has now been released on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One after PC. It includes all changes from the major Title Update 3 as well as the changes from the smaller Title Update 3.1.
For PlayStation 4, this is Update 1.05, which is 2.5 GB in size.
When will Title Update 3.1 be released? The new Title Update 3.1 is now available on PC (via Origin or Steam) and the consoles PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
Previously, FIFA 21 had received two updates, each of which only made minor adjustments. Title Update 3 (along with Title Update 3.1) has a long list of patch notes. We will look at the most important points.
The most important changes from the patch notes for Title Update 3.1
What’s included in the patch notes: Title Update 3.1 has changes from all areas and modes onboard. Both gameplay and visual elements are being revised. In the following list, we summarize the most important changes.
Gameplay – Changes
Various adjustments have been made to gameplay:
- The “Competitor Mode,” which allows the AI to mimic the playstyle of some of the world’s top FIFA players, will be more challenging.
- The time players take to recover after a block animation is to be shortened.
- The Elastico skill move has been slowed down, especially when chained together. This skill move was deemed particularly strong by FIFA pro Cihan in an interview.
- Through passes sometimes turned into short passes – this should now be prevented.
- The skill moves “Sombrero Flick,” “Standing Step-over” and the combination “Ball Roll/Scoop Turn” sometimes did not work as intended.
Additionally, many further changes to gameplay arise in specific game situations. For example, the ball could unrealistically fly when two players went for a header.
Ultimate Team – Changes
These bugs have been fixed in Ultimate Team:
- Many points in the menu were adjusted. For example, the menu sometimes lagged when scrolling right – and options that were on the left side suddenly hung off the screen.
- Newly bought or obtained players through SBCs sometimes ended up in the wrong places in the menu.
- Player cards were sometimes displayed incorrectly after goals.
- In the Co-op Mode, several bugs were fixed, including incorrect displays and stability issues.
Overall, a lot of visual bugs have been corrected in FUT.
Career Mode – Changes
This has been corrected in Career Mode:
- You can now scout for talents in Hungary, Bulgaria, and Iceland.
- Incorrect texts were replaced or corrected in various places.
- If a player was put on the transfer list, and you delegated his contract extension to the assistant, he could no longer be removed from the transfer list.
- Sometimes development plans were not shown as completed, even though time was up.
- Players wanted contract extensions, even though they had just signed a new contract.
- Recently signed players could not be loaned out.
Additionally, many more visual adjustments and bug fixes have been made.
Other Changes
What else has changed? The list of further changes is also long. For example, some bugs in Pro Clubs have been fixed, just like in VOLTA. There were issues with playing music, menus were revised, and stability has improved.
Additionally, a new coach star head is said to have been inserted – however, it is not mentioned which one it will be. Maybe it’s a redesigned Carlo Ancelotti?
Various visual aspects of stadiums and kits have also been revised, animation bugs have been corrected, and stability adjusted. Overall, the list of revisions is very long – you can find the complete patch notes here (via FIFA Forums).
Overall, it seems to primarily involve bugs, adjustments, and improvements. There are indeed many coming together in the list. It remains to be seen how much the patch will affect the gameplay feel once it is live everywhere.
Additionally, the continuation of the OTW event is still to come this week. Here you can find out who is in the Ones-to-Watch Team 2.
