EA has released an overview of changes and adjustments to Ultimate Team in FIFA 21. Included is also a major change that many fans considered long overdue.
What is this change? As EA announced, there will be no more fitness items and training items in FIFA 21. Especially the fitness items, which have been around since the launch of Ultimate Team in 2008, bothered many players.
These restore a player’s fitness level, as this decreases over time and with play. In theory, the fitness feature was supposed to lead to rotations, as seen in real football.
However, these cards were needed far too often, and generally, many players found the system simply frustrating. Author Julian Schröder from MeinMMO included a change to the fitness cards on his wishlist for FIFA 21. This wish has now been granted.
How does fitness work now? The fitness level and stamina will play a role within a match, namely how long, how well, and how often a player can sprint, for example.
Every player starts each match with full fitness.
In addition to the fitness cards, training items will also be removed, officially because this mechanic was hardly used. Moreover, the healing items will be adjusted. In FIFA 21, there will only be two types to reduce injuries:
- Common Healing – reduces injury time by 2 matches
- Rare Healing – reduces injury by 5 matches
With this, EA is changing several aspects in FIFA 21 that have bothered players so far. Previously, a change to the celebrations had already been positively received by many:
There will still be pack fillers
How does this change affect packs? Packs in Ultimate Team will, however, still receive pack fillers. These are primarily cosmetic and thus not “useless,” as some players have referred to the old items.
In the new pack fillers, you can expect:
- New licensed club content
- Fan choreographies
- New stadiums
- Familiar content like badges
Many of these contents revolve around the new feature where you can build your own stadium.
What else is changing in Ultimate Team? With FIFA 21, a new co-op feature is coming to the game, allowing you to play online with a friend. Although this feature does not apply to the Weekend League, it does apply to all other modes.
