In FIFA 21 the new POTM is ready. Lars Stindl from Borussia Mönchengladbach is the new Player of the Month. But the card has a big problem.
This is the POTM December: Like every month, there is a new “Player of the Month” card from the Bundesliga in FIFA 21. This time, Lars Stindl has secured the award retrospectively for the month of December and is now available in the game.
This is how you get POTM Stindl: The card can be obtained as usual through a special POTM SBC. Two parts need to be completed:
- The Gladbach SBC with a Gladbach player, a TOTW player, and an 82 rating
- The Bundesliga SBC with an 83-rated team
Both SBCs cost about 20,000 coins if you have no SBC fodder left in the club. Overall, it is significantly cheaper than past POTM SBCs. However, the card has a decisive flaw.
Speed in FIFA 21 is too important
This is the problem: In total, the card actually has strong values that could make Stindl very dangerous offensively. Shooting, dribbling, passing – all good. But in the speed area, the card only has a 67, which is very, very low in the speed-focused game of FIFA 21.
Even Stindl’s gold and inform cards had issues with the speed problem, as EA Sports set the pace value very low at the basic version of the card. In order to raise the original 59 value to a high level, several upgrades are necessary. The problem: cards with low speed simply have a significant disadvantage – which likely explains the lower price of the SBC.
Thus, the card remains rather neglected in terms of FIFA meta and is more for fans of the player or Borussia Mönchengladbach.
Currently, the voting for the TOTY in FIFA 21 is ongoing, for which Stindl is also nominated. Perhaps a Team-of-the-Year card could bring a sufficient speed upgrade? However, the chances are probably low given the competition in midfield.
