What is important when opening packs in FUT 21? In Ultimate Team, you can pull all kinds of items from packs. This includes players and consumable items, but also things like managers, crests, or brand new: items to beautify your own FUT stadium.
However, one should keep in mind that opening packs is often a losing proposition. You need a huge amount of luck to pull strong and valuable cards from the packs. Often, it’s lower-priced items that fill the packs, and only very rarely do you find the strongest players in FUT. Additionally, many players are now available at very low prices on the transfer market towards the end of the game cycle. After all, the focus is already on the FIFA 22 release.
But yes: You can also get lucky and pull a strong player.
The best sets in FUT 21 that you can buy for coins
What are the “best packs” in FUT 21? Sets that guarantee you top players are basically not available for purchase. Very rarely, there are packs from SBCs or events that guarantee a specific rating – but not usually in the shop.
In the shop, the packs where you pay the lowest price per rare card are the most worthwhile. Especially sets with guaranteed rare players are useful since they promise the most profit on the transfer market. Only packs that can contain rare players also offer absolute top players and special cards.
List of the best packs: Below you will find the top 10 list of the best packs in Ultimate Team. This is based on calculations from the website fifauteam, which in turn used hundreds of pack openings.
The criterion for the value of a pack is the amount of coins that a rare gold player costs on average. The lower this coin value, the better the pack.
Is every expensive set automatically good? The list features quite expensive packs at the top – this is mainly because the chance of rare gold players is higher than in other packs. However, this does not mean that they guarantee good players. You can also pull weak cards from a Mega Pack.
The expensive packs are also not always on offer. It is also crucial what you actually want out of a pack: If you want silver players, for example, silver packs are more worthwhile. If you’re looking for consumables, player packs are also the wrong choice. And if you want a specific player, you should try to get him on the transfer market instead. However, if you want to try your luck and use packs to pull any valuable player, then you have better chances in the expensive packs than in a simple gold pack.
Preview packs in FIFA 21 without risk
What are these packs? Since the summer events, you can also get so-called “preview packs” in FIFA 21 in addition to the usual packs in the Ultimate Team shop. These are clearly marked by a corresponding banner.
The special feature: You can first see what is contained in these packs before you buy them. To activate this preview, you open them like normal packs and also get to see the usual animations.
But if there’s nothing interesting in the pack, and you would make a loss, you can simply put the pack back. Then a timer (usually 24 hours) runs until you can activate a new preview of this pack version. Until then, the already previewed pack remains available for purchase.
If you buy the pack instead, there is no timer, and another preview pack is available.
In FIFA 21, the preview packs were well received by fans. After all, they eliminated some of the gambling factor: While you still have no influence over what is in the pack – at least you don’t have to invest your coins beforehand. Whether they will make a return in FIFA 22 is still uncertain.

Standard sets that are always in the shop – with probabilities
You can always get these sets in the shop. Events are irrelevant for this. However, one should be clear that they do not offer huge chances for top players. Here you can find all sets in the overview.
This is important regarding probabilities: The probabilities of the packs are dynamic and can change over the course of the season. Special cards can also play a role and provide new probabilities.
Gold Pack:
- 12 gold items, players and consumables, 1 rare
- 5000 coins
- 100% chance of a player with rating 75+, 6.4% chance of a player with 82+, and 3.3% chance of a player with 83+.
Premium Gold Pack:
- 12 gold items, players and consumables, 3 rare
- 7500 coins
- 100% chance of a player with rating 75+, 17% chance of a player with 82+, and 4.2% chance of a player with 83+.
Silver Pack:
- 12 silver cards, players, and consumables, 1 rare
- 2500 coins
- 100% chance of a player with rating 65+, 27% chance of a player with 72+, and 3.4% chance of a player with 74+.
Premium Silver Pack:
- 12 silver cards, players, and consumables, 3 rare
- 3750 coins
- 100% chance of a player with rating 65+, 41% chance of a player with 72+, and 9.5% chance of a player with 74+.
Bronze Pack:
- 12 bronze cards, players, and consumables, 1 rare item
- 400 coins
- 100% chance of a player with rating 45+, 64% chance of a player with 62+, and 13% chance of a player with 64+.
Premium Bronze Pack:
- 12 bronze cards, players, and consumables, 3 rare
- 750 coins
- 100% chance of a player with rating 45+, 77% chance of a player with 62+, and 32% chance of a player with 64+.
Notes on the quality levels gold, silver, bronze:
- Bronze players have a maximum rating of 64. They are the weakest players in the game.
- Silver players range between 65 and 74.
- Gold players have 75+ and can go up to 99. By the way, the strongest gold card in the game is Lionel Messi with 93.
- Special cards can have varying strength ratings.
Promo packs for events in FUT 21
What are promo packs? Promo packs are not always available in the shop. They are only available for a limited time, such as during events. You can also get them in rewards from Division Rivals, Squad Battles, and Weekend League.
In the list, you can see the price of the set, whether player cards are included, how many cards are in total, and how many rare items the pack offers. Important: Rare items can also include contracts or other items; they do not have to be player cards exclusively.

Free packs as gifts or rewards
What are these sets? These are packs that may be given as gifts or that you can earn as rewards. For example, in past titles, gifts were available in the web app – but these are still missing in FIFA 21. However, you can also get such sets from challenges or the Weekend League.
Tips and hints before pulling packs
- You can buy packs for coins or FIFA points. While you can earn coins in-game, FIFA points must be purchased with real money.
- The purchase of packs using FIFA points has faced a lot of criticism as a pay-to-win mechanic. The low probabilities of strong cards in packs are also not higher when using FIFA points. However, there are streamers who invest huge sums and open so many packs that strong cards do come out. But that shouldn’t tempt you to think that every pack has an Mbappé in it. FIFA pro Tim Latka, for example, wants to avoid using real money this year.
- Especially at the beginning of the game, it is usually more worthwhile to invest the earned coins in players on the transfer market instead of in packs. A well-assembled Bundesliga team is generally more rewarding than packs that ultimately yield nothing useful. Now, towards the end of the game cycle, many players are also much cheaper on the market.
- Packs are not only available in the shop but also through weekly challenges, SBCs, and as rewards – for example, in Division Rivals. Here you can secure packs by playing without spending coins.
