Live cards in FIFA 21 can strengthen your team and bring a lot of coins if sold in time. An art that MeinMMO author Max Handwerk obviously does not master at all.
An investment in the future: There are transfers in FIFA 21 where you just know they will work. As soon as the Ihlas-Bebou-RTTF card was released, I knew it would be the boost my team needed. Everything just fit:
- Despite the seemingly low overall rating, Bebou has great stats, which almost reminded me of Mbappé.
- He fit perfectly into my Bundesliga team and filled the role of the fast striker that I was missing.
- And besides, Bebou is also one of my favorite players in real life – even though he has now left my club for Hoffenheim.
The problem: When I wanted to buy him, he cost at least 96,500 coins. Quite a chunk, for which I always have to play a lot. But I thought: It might still be worth it.
Because the card is not only already strong. As an RTTF card, it had the potential to be further improved with Hoffenheim victories in the Europa League. That would mean: better ratings and more coins on the transfer market.
Ka-Ching.
With dollar signs in my eyes, I bought the Bebou card for 96,500 coins and it was going really well. He was exactly the player I wanted and scored goals continuously.
As the icing on the cake, his value on the transfer market kept rising. The draw resulted in Hoffenheim playing against the Norwegian first division team Molde FK. Pff, Molde FK. The Bundesliga team should manage that.
I thought to myself satisfied: We will closely monitor the value and wait for the upgrade. Then I will either have an over-striker or a big profit on the transfer market. The card had already risen to a value of over 260,000 coins – without an upgrade.
I saw how everything fit perfectly. Hoffenheim would beat Molde, Bebou would become the super striker, and I would be FIFA-rich. I should have known better.
I bewitch cards and I believe it won’t stop
This is how it all ended: Anyone who follows real football knows what’s coming. In the first leg, Hoffenheim only drew 3:3 against Molde. And that, after leading 3:1, a fourth goal was disallowed and a penalty was missed.
That was the mistake: I should have reacted here already. It did not look good, and Bebou’s value was still stable. I could have sold him for 250,000 coins with a profit of 160,000 coins and then just repurchase him at the old price if needed. But I didn’t.
I thought: They will manage it in the second leg. I mean, honestly: Molde FK!
But I apparently underestimated Molde, because in the second game, the Norwegians coldly won 2:0. Out, over. Hoffenheim out, upgrades gone. How that affected the value, you can imagine. Here you see the price curve:

Bebou has suddenly landed back in the 90,000 range and I didn’t make a single FUT penny. I admit: It’s frustrating, but only a little. After all, he has been my best player for weeks and still holds up well – just selling him for profit might also have meant bad karma.
But something else worries me.
Bebou is not an isolated case: Besides Bebou, I also have the RTTF version of Diaby in my team. I pulled him as an untradeable card, so he is not sellable anyway. However, I looked forward to strong upgrades for the wing wizard, as his team – Leverkusen – played in the Europa League against Young Boys Bern. Pff… Young Boys Bern.
To make it short: Leverkusen also got knocked out, and my second RTTF card was dead in terms of upgrades. Two defeats that I really didn’t expect. And I have a third live card.
For the What-If event, I grabbed the new live card of Jovic. Although he cost 166,000 coins, upgrades are sure to come! He will get an upgrade if his team scores 6 goals in the next 5 Bundesliga matches. And Eintracht Frankfurt is nearly infallible; they have a strong streak – I thought when I bought.
But what can I say: On Friday night, Frankfurt, despite the strong streak until then, only lost 1:2 against Werder Bremen. A club that hadn’t won three times before and is in the middle of the table… that does not look good.
Maybe I should just stop hoping for expensive live cards. I only bewitch them anyway. There are also alternatives. For example, these strong players under 50,000 coins.
