Meta players are an important factor in the FIFA 21 Weekend League to compete with the strongest opponents. We show you which cards are currently particularly strong but do not cost a fortune.
These are meta players: These cards are particularly popular in FIFA 21 Ultimate Team and dominate especially the Weekend League. This is because the cards fit perfectly with the current gameplay of FIFA 21 and provide ideal stats for their positions. For example, this year, speed is once again an extremely important stat, which is why many FUT players even use full-backs as center-backs.
To compete in the Weekend League (the toughest competition in FUT) and gain many victories, you cannot avoid investing some coins in meta players. However, they do not always have to be cards that cost several hundred thousand or even millions of coins.
We therefore show you strong meta players that can be had for under 100,000 coins (as of April 10, 2021).
Nick Pope
Nick Pope has one of the best goalkeeper cards in FUT 21 despite his low rating, which is quite affordable. You only need to lay down 2,000 coins to bring the strong goalkeeper card, with a height of 2m, into your team.
However, the Inform card of Pope is somewhat more expensive, costing around 73,000 coins. If your budget allows such a price, then the TOTW card of Pope should be able to save you from many goals.
Raphael Varane
The center-back card of Varane is still one of the best defender cards that the game has to offer. Varane is really fast and has outstanding defensive stats. If you also apply a Shadow Chemistry Style, the gold card of Varane can stop almost any striker.
His price is around 43,000 coins.
N’Golo Kanté
For years, Kanté has been considered one of the best defensive midfielders in FIFA, and this year is no different. With Kanté, you get a physically strong midfielder with really good defensive and dribbling abilities. If you then also use the Shadow Chemistry Style, the card receives a significant pace boost.
You can get the card for around 60,000 coins.
Federico Valverde
The gold card of Valverde is still a strong midfield card with solid stats. The high speed and fantastic all-round stats are especially valuable, making the card an excellent box-to-box midfielder. The cost is around 4,400 coins.
If you have more coins in your FUT account, the Inform card (85) of Valverde is worth considering. While it costs a hefty 82,000 coins, it offers a decent improvement in all areas compared to his standard gold card.
Sadio Mané

Finally, prices in Ultimate Team have dropped enough that many FUT players can afford Sadio Mané. The card is a powerhouse in offense and offers fantastic pace (94), great shooting stats (85), and impressive dribbling stats (90). Additionally, Mané has 4 stars for skill moves and weak foot. Many goals should be guaranteed.
It costs around 77,000 coins.
Lautaro Martinez
Martinez has received a whole series of special cards in FIFA 21, all offering decent stats. However, his 86 Inform card offers particularly good value for money, as it has everything a striker card in FUT 21 needs. Martinez is fast, has strong shooting and dribbling stats, and can also hold his own physically. Additionally, the 4 stars for skill moves and weak foot increase goal danger.
The price of the card is around 58,000 coins.
Wissam Ben Yedder
Ben Yedder has become one of the most feared strikers in the last FIFA years, as his cards offer extremely strong values in pace, shooting, and dribbling, and are particularly dangerous due to the 5 stars on the weak foot. When you see that the opposing team has a Ben Yedder in attack, you need to brace yourself for conceding goals, as it is almost harder to miss the target than to score with Ben Yedder.
His gold card can be had for just under 10,000 coins, but the Inform card is an exception on this list, as you have to pay around 170,000 coins for it. However, nobody is likely to regret the investment.
