EA Sports has finally released the FIFA 21 gameplay trailer. It showcased plenty of new features – here you will find the most interesting innovations.
This is the gameplay trailer: The new gameplay trailer premiered on Tuesday evening at 5:00 PM. In 3:38 minutes, it shows what gameplay innovations you can expect in FIFA 21 – and there are quite a few. Here’s the trailer:
What can be learned from this? MeinMMO has summarized 3 important points.
FIFA 21 will be a game for tricksters
Why dribbling will be important: FIFA 21 opens the new trailer directly with an important innovation: Agile Dribbling. This is a new mechanic that essentially replaces the strong Drag-Back in FIFA 20. You can perform quite tight dribbles on the spot – simply by holding R1 and choosing the desired direction. This will make it incredibly difficult to take the ball away from you.
Additionally, there are new skill moves, new ways to tunnel your opponent, and according to the Pitch Notes (via EA Sports), it will be easier to chain tricks together. Moreover, it will be possible to interrupt many skill moves and perform a new action – allowing for a lot of surprises for the opponent.
Positional play will be significantly stronger
Changes in positional play: A key factor will be the new Creative Runs, allowing you to control players who are not on the ball. This is one of the features that could completely change your game – because those who master Creative Runs can surprise opponents with unusual running paths.
Overall, positional play has been improved. Strong playmakers like Kevin de Bruyne now find gaps in the opponent’s defense much better, while attackers like Agüero make use of the right running paths. In defense, players like Fabinho are expected to become better at intercepting passes, and defenders like van Dijk will create stronger blocks when they are in the right position. All of this depends on “Positioning Personality”: The higher the attributes concerning positional play, the better your players will move across the field.
An interesting detail: In kickoff mode, you can now use “Gameplay-Rewind”. This means that if something went wrong, you can rewind and play the situation again. This can help you practice the new running paths in detail.
Finally header goals?
Changes to headers: In FIFA 20, headers were practically dead. Crosses from the outside rarely succeeded, as high balls were mostly blocked away. In the gameplay trailer, the new “Manual Headers” were introduced. This means you will no longer receive assistance with headers – allowing for precise control of where the ball lands.
Moreover, new crosses have been introduced with new trajectories. There are new fast crosses, where you just need to get your head on the ball, or low crosses. The new crosses could, along with headers, make high balls useful again in FIFA 21.
Starting October 9, players can test the new gameplay – that’s when the new FIFA title will be released. All the information that is currently known about the new installment in the series has been summarized in our overview of FIFA 21.
