14-year-old eSports player Anders Vejrgang has dominated the Weekend League in FIFA 21 in recent weeks. He has now set a new impressive record.
This is Anders Vejrgang: Anders Vejrgang is only 14 years old but is already a successful eSports player. Currently, the Dane plays for the FIFA team of the Bundesliga club RB Leipzig. Due to his age, Vejrgang is not allowed to participate in most official tournaments, which typically require a minimum age of 16. However, he consistently plays in the Weekend League – and very successfully at that.
For weeks he has been competing in FUT Champions without losing a single game. Last weekend it finally happened: Vejrgang remained undefeated in his tenth weekend in FUT Champions and secured his 300th win with 0 losses. A world record that he also celebrated on Twitter:
In the tweet he ironically writes “Still no shower and no sunlight, and no Bruno penalties for another week, sorry haters”. A reaction to the ever-repeating unfriendly comments. The Bruno reference pertains to a match during a tournament he lost after a Bruno Fernandes penalty, in which he reacted very emotionally to the defeat. However, this match did not take place in the Weekend League – thus he still stands at 0 losses there.
Anyone who has ever played in the Weekend League will understand how hard that is. A weekend without a loss is already an achievement that seems completely impossible for the majority of FIFA players. How does the young player do it?
This is how Vejrgang maintains his perfect record
This is what his team looks like: Not surprisingly, the Dane plays with a team that combines the best players in FIFA 21. It surely helps his record that he has players like
- Cristiano Ronaldo
- Neymar
- Mbappé
- The icon Ronaldo
- Gullit
- Vieira
and other top FIFA players like Rashford or Adama Traoré at his disposal. This is an advantage that “normal” players rarely have. However, such teams can also be seen with many other pros.
When watching games of Anders Vejrgang, one thing stands out: countless skill moves. The eSports player is just immensely good at outplaying his opponents with tricks. Especially the Elastico, which was nerfed in an update, but is still strong, seems to be at the top of his trick repertoire.
He uses it repeatedly to get into good shooting and passing positions, applying a small speed boost to press into tight spaces. Once his top forwards have free run, the finishing is almost unstoppable.
He had an exciting match that one can watch well in a friendly match against the German pro Proownez (via YouTube). Vejrgang won the match 5:2:
In addition, he delivers a lot of passes after sending his players into open spaces. One constantly sees him mix long balls among many short passes to players, with whom he then moves into good finishing positions and consistently finds the back of the net. Especially offensively, the young player is extremely consistent – and so far, his goal tally has been enough to prevent losses in the Weekend League.
