In FIFA 20 there will be a kind of Season Pass – or Battle Pass. With it, you can complete long-term seasonal tasks in Ultimate Team and earn rewards. The start date of the first FUT season is already known.
This is what the Season Pass in FIFA 20 is all about: For FUT 20, EA Sports is adopting a current trend. A rewards system is being introduced that resembles a Season Pass, similar to those found in battle royale games like Fortnite or Apex Legends (Battle Pass), in Rocket League (Rocket Pass), or soon in Destiny 2.
The principle is the same everywhere: By playing the game, you gradually rise in ranks. At certain ranks, you receive special rewards. As there are quite a number of ranks, this system provides long-term motivation to log in regularly and fight from reward to reward.
Each season is time-limited. You only have a certain amount of time to earn all Season Pass rewards. This adds a sense of urgency.
Is the Season Pass in FIFA 20 free? While such season passes normally cost money in other games – if you want all possible seasonal rewards – this rewards system in FIFA 20 FUT is accessible to all players at no extra cost. At least, EA has not communicated any extra costs so far.

Level up in seasonal ranks for rewards in FUT 20
This is what you can expect in FUT 20: Until now, Ultimate Team had a task system that only included daily and weekly tasks. In FUT 20, this system is being revamped and expanded with seasonal tasks.
All tasks for the FUT 20 seasons:
- Daily Tasks: Simple tasks released each day that contribute XP to your season rewards. They are only available for 24 hours each.
- Weekly Tasks: Group tasks with rewards and XP gains. If you don’t complete a week’s tasks, they remain active for another week. The only exception is the last week of the season – it can only be completed in that week.
- Seasonal Tasks: Long-term challenges. Remain available until the end of a season.
- Dynamically Tasks: Special, time-limited goals that don’t have a regular release schedule. They may be tied to events in the real world.
In addition, there are these two task types:
- Milestone Tasks: These are long-term tasks not tied to any season, and you’ll need some time to complete them. An example is “Hit 100 finesse shots, headers, volleys, and chip shots each” for which you will receive this 16-bit ball as a reward:
- Fundamentals Tasks: These tasks are aimed at newcomers, where you can complete grouped learning tasks, like those regarding the transfer market or team building with chemistry.
This is how you level up in the seasonal ranks: To level up in the seasonal ranks, you need experience points (XP). You earn XP by completing daily tasks, weekly tasks, seasonal tasks, and dynamic tasks.
With this XP, you increase your seasonal level and unlock rewards:
Each level grants its own reward or a selection of rewards.
What seasonal rewards are available? There will be a variety of rewards, from packs to player and club customization content to items that help you progress your club, like match coin boosts. By the way, for a FIFA 20 trophy, you must receive such a seasonal reward.
According to EA Sports, both the challenges and rewards grow as you progress in the seasonal ranks.
In FUT 20, there is a new task overview in the hub where you can check your seasonal progress at any time. There, you can inspect the seasonal rewards and all tasks:
How many ranks are there? In the 1st season, you can reach a maximum rank of 30.
When does the 1st season start, when does it end? It starts on September 19, 2019. The official release of FIFA 20 is only on September 27, but you can start early with certain editions. The first season ends at the end of October.
Why are there new Seasons in FIFA 20 Ultimate Team?
This is what EA says: According to the developers, they want to set you long-term tasks in addition to short-term and medium-term goals that will help you advance your club.
In FUT 19, the task feature was very popular in the FUT community. However, they received feedback that many players desired even more opportunities for progression in FUT.
Even though these seasonal goals are a free feature, EA will probably still make money off it. After all, you tie potential buyers of FIFA Points over a longer period.
