As every year, the TOTY event brings absolute top cards to FIFA 20. However, pulling them is almost impossible, as this event proved again in 2020.
This is the TOTY: The Team of the Year (TOTY) in FIFA 20 highlights the best eleven of the calendar year. It offers special cards with extremely strong attributes, which can become very expensive on the market.
In FIFA you generally need a great deal of luck to pull the absolute top players from packs. But the current event again impressively shows how poor the chances really are.

Which TOTY cards can you even get?
These cards are in packs: The TOTY is currently unfolding as follows: After all TOTY players were announced on Monday evening, the attackers were first added to the packs. These are:
- Sadio Mané
- Lionel Messi
- Kylian Mbappé
Thus, only 3 of the 11 possible TOTY cards were available in the first 24 hours. The remaining cards will be added to packs in the coming days based on their positions.
At the end of the week, there should be another period when all cards are available at the same time. A large part of all FUT cards still doesn’t consist of these 11 players.
Chances are below one percent
This is how the chances in packs stand: If you want to check how the chances of getting a TOTY card look in the pack shop, you can easily do so. Various packs are currently available, offering different probabilities for top players depending on their price.
But even the most expensive pack in the shop at this point, which costs 100,000 coins, only offers a TOTY probability of less than one percent.
The crux: It’s not even known how far below one percent that probability lies. It could theoretically also be a 0.00001% chance. The fact is: pulling a TOTY card is nearly impossible. And how unlikely it actually is was already evident in the first 24 hours.
Even streamers have little luck
This is how the first TOTY day went: The prospect of the 3 extremely strong attackers already led to a lot of opened packs in the first TOTY hours. On Twitch and YouTube, you can nicely follow how famous streamers open numerous packs – and in most cases, they come up more or less empty-handed.
For example, streamer Castro_1021 invested about 800,000 FIFA Points into packs during a 12-hour stream to pull a TOTY player. To put this into perspective: Buying the largest package of 12,000 FIFA Points on PS4 costs 99.99 euros. So, 800,000 FIFA Points would cost about 6,700 euros based on this price.

This is what the result looked like: Castro did pull good players like Salah from his packs, and there were also icons. That you have an advantage in FIFA 20 if you invest a lot of money in packs is undisputed.
However, he also opened many packs that contained no good players at all. This is something a regular player knows well when they can’t invest money in packs and can only open a few packs occasionally. And above all: He did not pull a TOTY player during the entire stream.
It is clearly visible that even with a huge number of packs, the chance of getting event players is very small. Streamer Castro recoups the money he invested in the game through his streams – but as a normal player, one should probably steer clear of the idea of spending money to pull a TOTY player.
Even streamer AA9skillz invested a lot of points to pull a TOTY player. But he too had no luck when it came to the TOTY – and ultimately bought Mané on the market to test him anyway:
Of course, you can also get lucky with a pack – after all, it is even possible to pull TOTY players from weak packs. However, this is simply not very likely in practice.
If you are looking for top players in the transfer market, you will need a lot of coins. Here’s how you can get them:
