In FIFA 20, there is a new fun mode called “Mystery Ball” where various stats are extremely boosted. We show you the crazy new game mode.
The “Mystery Ball” mode is a new part of the House Rules – a collection of fun modes that were introduced with FIFA 19. In FIFA 20, the House Rules return, bringing Mystery Ball and several new modes with them.
This is how a “Mystery Ball” game works
How do you start “Mystery Ball”? The House Rules are available in various FIFA modes. You can play “Mystery Ball” with friends on the couch or online in friendly matches.
In these FIFA 20 game modes, “Mystery Ball” is available:
In FIFA 19, the House Rules were only available offline in the kick-off mode.
How does “Mystery Ball” work? Every time the ball goes out of play, a boost is activated. The player who now controls the ball can utilize this boost. And they have a huge advantage, as the boosts in “Mystery Ball” are truly extreme!
These attributes can be boosted:
- Passing
- Shooting
- Speed
- Dribbling
- Everything together
What is special about “Mystery Ball”? The opportunity to play with extreme boosts has not been available in FIFA before. This gives players who would otherwise struggle in FIFA the chance to score dream goals, make incredible passes, and perform sensational dribblings.
You can take advantage of this and perhaps finally defeat that one friend who always wins in regular matches.
There is definitely a huge advantage for the team that has the ball. Especially the pace boost makes it nearly impossible for the team without the ball to catch up and stop the opponent.
But the rare “All-Boost” is clearly the most dangerous; this can be seen in the video from minute 15:45. With this boost, all attributes are maximally improved.

First gameplay of “Mystery Ball”
This is what the fun mode looks like: At Gamescom, several EA Gamechangers were able to try out the mode. Here you can see a match of “Mystery Ball” between Eintracht Frankfurt and Dynamo Dresden.
Clearly recognizable is that indeed all advantages can be utilized perfectly. Players with the “Dribbling Boost” are nearly unstoppable and very hard to stop. Shots with the “Shooting Boost” come flying towards the goal with incredible force, so the goalkeeper has no chance to react. Only the crossbar or the post might get in the way.
But the rare “All-Boost” is clearly the most dangerous; this can be seen in the video from minute 15:45. With this boost, all attributes are maximally improved.
