Due to the coronavirus (COVID-19), many football leagues are currently not holding matches. FIFA 20 is responding by replacing the Team of the Week (TOTW) with a new system.
What is the TOTW? Every week, EA Sports assembles a Team of the Week made up of 23 players who have shown outstanding performances in real football. These players then receive not only a place in the Team of the Week but also enhanced Inform cards in FUT 20.
However, most football matches are currently not taking place. Accordingly, EA Sports has temporarily suspended the TOTW.
Now they are introducing a new system called “Team of the Week Moments.”
Historical Data for New Cards
What is the Team of the Week Moments? The new system is expected to be closely aligned with the Team of the Week while remaining authentic and connected to real football.
Therefore, historical TOTW releases will be utilized. Each week, data from previous years of FIFA Ultimate Team will be used to create new cards based on this.
The systems are to remain separate, so that the normal operation of the TOTW can continue once the leagues resume.
How does this work exactly? All released players from the “Team of the Week Moments” represent their current club. If a player has transferred between this and a previous season, they will still be assigned to the current team.
The upgrades of the cards will also be based on current values.
If a player is no longer actively playing or is not included in FUT 20, they will not be included in the TOTW Moments.
Which areas does the new system replace? The Team of the Week Moments applies to all areas where the TOTW previously existed:
- In the FUT Champions Rewards
- In the packs
- In the weekly Squad Battles
- In the SBC conditions
- In the Draft Mode
When is the first TOTW Moments? The new TOTW Moments started on March 18th at 7:00 PM. It will continue until regular football activity resumes.
