In FIFA 20, some stars will perform even better than they did in the last game. We will show you particularly exciting players, for whom we expect upgrades!
These stars will be of interest to you: We have taken a closer look at nine players who are likely to make a significant leap in rating in FIFA 20. Some of them are absolute world stars, which means they will be correspondingly expensive.
But there are also players who are likely to jump from lower ratings into the low to mid 80s. Depending on what kind of team you plan to build in Ultimate Team, you should keep the following players in mind!
FIFA 20: These players are likely to receive rating upgrades
Trent Alexander-Arnold
The reason why Alexander-Arnold will get an upgrade: The 20-year-old Englishman is still at the beginning of his career but is already a Champions League winner. He played a significant role in that: With a clever corner kick in the semi-finals, the right-back caught the entire FC Barcelona defense off guard, leading to Divock Origi’s goal and sealing the Catalans’ exit. A moment that football fans will remember for a long time to come.
Even aside from this brilliant play, Alexander-Arnold proved to be an extremely reliable player in defense. His rating of 78 is likely to rise to at least 82 – if not even higher. Besides him, there are also other talents who are likely to make a leap.
Virgil van Dijk
The reason why van Dijk will get an upgrade: Virgil van Dijk proved to be one of the best, if not the best center-back in the world at FC Liverpool. The Dutchman played a major role in finishing second in England with just one loss, and especially in the Champions League victory of the Klopp team.
In FIFA 19, van Dijk started with a rating of 85 and got upgraded to 88 in the winter. Various special cards were also given to van Dijk that reflected his performance in FIFA. It would be a surprise if van Dijk was not significantly stronger as one of the cover stars in FIFA 20. It is highly likely that he will have a rating of 90.
Raheem Sterling
The reason why Sterling will get an upgrade: The fact that FC Liverpool did not become champions in England despite a strong season was due to Manchester City, which gathered even more points. And this, in turn, was also thanks to Raheem Sterling: The English international contributed 17 goals and 12 assists in 34 league appearances, being consistently one of the key players in manager Pep Guardiola’s squad.
This was also recognized by FIFA 19 with a winter upgrade of Sterling’s standard card from 85 to 87. This rating should be what the 24-year-old receives from the start in FIFA 20. It is possible that he may even begin the new season with a rating of 88-89.
Marco Reus
The reason why Reus will get an upgrade: Marco Reus had a starting rating of 85 in FIFA 19. This was one point less than in FIFA 18. In the real-life season of 18/19, Reus significantly improved his performance. Especially in the first half of the season, BVB literally dominated the Bundesliga – also thanks to Reus. This was reflected in FIFA: Reus was multiple Bundesliga POTM and also received an upgrade to 88 in the winter.
Here too, a value below this level would be a surprise. It is more likely that Reus will get an additional point and enter the FIFA-20 season with a rating of 89 – or even 90. This would likely make him the best player in the Bundesliga.
Jadon Sancho
The reason why Sancho will get an upgrade: Like Reus, Jadon Sancho made an impact at BVB. The 19-year-old superstar scored 12 goals and provided 17 assists in the past season. Thus, he was the best assist provider of the last season.
Even in FIFA 19, EA noticed that Sancho’s silver base card (rating: 72) was likely no longer sufficient. In winter, he received an upgrade to gold and a rating of 78, alongside various POTM-, Future Stars-, and TOTS cards. In the upcoming FIFA 20, Sancho will definitely have a rating over 80 – perhaps an 81 or 82, which would represent an increase of nine or ten points compared to the previous season.
Luka Jović
The reason why Jovic will get an upgrade: 17 goals, six assists. Plus ten goals and one assist in 14 Europa League matches. Transfer from Eintracht Frankfurt to Real Madrid – for 60 million. That probably says it all, because: Jović’s base rating of 75 will definitely be increased.
In winter, Jovic already rose from a standard gold card to a rare gold card, boosting his rating to 80. This may not be enough: The new Madrid player is likely to receive a rating around 83 – and hopefully also a new face scan.
Nicolas Pépé:
The reason why Pépé will get an upgrade: Nicolas Pépé started as a player of LOSC Lille with a rating of 75 in the FIFA 19 season, receiving an upgrade to 79 in winter. Thanks to various TOTW and other special cards, resulting from 22 goals and 11 assists in Ligue 1, it is clear: Pépé will definitely have a rating over 80 in the upcoming season.
A jump to 82 or 83 is likely. With his speed, he will be a great alternative on the right wing for Premier League teams: Pépé moved to Arsenal in the summer. By the way, there are also other transfers that will allow you new combinations in Ultimate Team!
Allan
The reason why Allan will get an upgrade: Allan was a favorite among FUT players who built a Serie A team in the first phase of the new season. The affordable midfielder was reliable in both defense and offense despite his comparatively low rating of 82. However, it is possible that Allan will become a top player in the upcoming season.
In winter, he already received an upgrade to 84, and at the end of the season, he received a TOTS card for the standout player of SSC Napoli. He could have this rating at the start of the FIFA 20 season, maybe even an 85.
Kylian Mbappé
The reason why Mbappé will get an upgrade: The many TOTW and other special cards for Kylian Mbappé already suggest that the 20-year-old had a top season. Rightly so: The world champion scored 33 goals and assisted nine others in 29 league matches. At PSG, he was named Player of the Season and was one of the most favored players in FIFA 19.
This is not surprising, as Mbappé’s base card with a rating of 87 (and 88 after the winter upgrade) was already overpowered. In FIFA 20, this status will not change. The rating of the Frenchman is likely to rise to 90, making him even more expensive than he already was in FIFA 19.
