In FIFA 20, you can complete various tasks for rewards in Ultimate Team. Among them: The first owner objectives.
The tasks usually are: Those working on the new season progress in FIFA 20 will have noticed that there are many different types of tasks. Depending on the difficulty level, the amount of XP and rewards you can earn varies.
Simple tasks include: “Win a match today.” An example of a difficult task: “Score two headed goals in Division Rivals with a player who has a physical rating of 82.”
These are first owner objectives: EA Sports has already provided insight into the tasks in the Pitch Notes. They were first introduced in FIFA 19. Among other things, they will be used again in the Icon Swaps event.

This is how first owner objectives work: You can only complete first owner objectives with player items that no other FIFA player had before you.
This means: You cannot use players from the transfer market for the tasks. You either have to rely on your pack luck – which can be difficult – or use players that you have unlocked through SBCs or specific tasks.
You don’t need to remember whether you own a player as the first one. In the player bio, you will find the entry at the top right that provides insight into the first owner status.
This is why these objectives exist: Not being able to simply buy the right player for a task makes them significantly more challenging. After all, you first need to somehow get a suitable player – and that can take time. This makes it more justifiable to offer challenging rewards, such as Icons, than with simple tasks.
EA describes that they want to encourage players to build more “first owner squads,” instead of immediately throwing all players from packs onto the transfer market. This would lead to more variety in FUT. Additionally, this way you might come across genuine hidden gems that you might otherwise miss.
This is how the community reacts: On reddit, players are skeptical about the tasks. The difficult Gold goals of the normal season progress have already discouraged some players, and there are fears that it will be similar with the Icons.
At the same time, many players believe that the objectives are primarily there to encourage the opening of more packs. However, the reactions to the announcement of the Icon Swap Event were rather positive – after all, it allows for earning Icons.
