The FIFA 20 demo has its release date today. When is the download time for PS4, Xbox One, and PC in Germany, which teams and content does the demo version deliver? When can it be downloaded and installed from the stores and what does New Zealand have to do with it? There are issues with the PS Store at launch.
Update 4 PM: The demo has been discovered in the PS Store on PS4. To find it, go to the Store on your PlayStation 4, select “Games” on the left, then go to “Demo,” and here FIFA 20 should be displayed directly.
Here’s the link to the PS Store in the browser: FIFA 20 demo for PS4.
Currently, there is still a problem: The product page is displayed, but the download cannot be started in the PS Store. It should only be a matter of minutes until you can start the download. Update 4:09 PM: It’s working for us now. Download size is 6.4 GB.
According to user reports, the demo is available on Xbox. It is 6.94 GB in size. It’s still missing on Origin. According to the French Twitter channel of EA Sports, it will also be available for PC shortly. Update 4:50 PM: The demo is now live on all platforms.
FIFA 20 demo is released today: As EA Sports announced in a press release, the demo version of FIFA 20 starts today, on September 10, 2019.
In fact, EA Sports has not yet made any official word about the demo through public channels such as Twitter. However, the press release confirms a recent leak, where September 10 was briefly listed as the demo release date in the Xbox Store.
In short: The FIFA 20 demo starts today, Tuesday!
Start time of the FIFA 20 demo
The time for the FIFA 20 demo download: The start time was not mentioned in the press release. However, we expect a time around 4 PM in Germany. It was at least the case last year. At 4 PM, the demo became available in the PS Store on PS4 and on Origin for PC, and in the Xbox Store, it went live a few minutes later.
We will regularly update this article and immediately add information when the demo is available. Currently, it is not yet live.
While you wait for the demo to start, you can view the ratings of the top 100 in FIFA 20.

What does New Zealand have to do with the release of the FIFA 20 demo?
Play the FIFA 20 demo first? Annually, around the demo release, the terms New Zealand or Australia are found in the FIFA forums.
The reason: Many fans want to act particularly cleverly to be able to play in Germany before everyone else. They create a PSN account registered in New Zealand, as they assume that the “FIFA 20” demo will be available in the store there earlier. Australia is also a popular country that is given during account creation.
Presumably, they want to ease the rush on the stores, as there were frequently difficulties – especially in the PS Store – in the past years due to so many people wanting to download the demo at the same time.
Game modes in the FIFA 20 demo
These modes you can probably play:
- Kick-off: The kick-off mode is definitely in the demo. In it, you can play matches with a 4-minute half-time length either alone or against a friend offline. The kick-off mode will be expanded in FIFA 20 with a type of zone control as well as the Mystery Ball mode.
- Volta: Volta is the big new feature of FIFA 20. It is a FIFA Street-like mode in which you can showcase your skills on the street. We strongly assume that a few Volta matches can be played in the demo.
You cannot play the FIFA 20 demo online against friends. However, there’s a trick on PS4 to make it possible.

Teams in the demo
Which teams are in the demo? In the demo, we found these teams in kick-off mode:
- Borussia Dortmund
- FC Chelsea
- FC Liverpool
- PSG
- Real Madrid
- Tottenham
However, these teams are not confirmed.
Demo progress will not be carried over
Can one carry over their progress from the demo to FIFA 20? No, everything you play in the demo remains in the demo. You cannot transfer progress to the main game.

Playing FIFA 20 demo – What you should test
In the demo, you cannot start with your Ultimate Team or your Career Mode. Instead, you can use the time to familiarize yourself with the gameplay and learn new skills.
Manual defending is said to be more worthwhile in FIFA 20 than in FIFA 19, and there is completely new ball physics. Pay attention to both.
Here you can find new key combinations to test:
What’s new in FIFA 20? Besides a revised gameplay, FIFA 20 will have some new licenses in the form of the Romanian league and several new stadiums.
The biggest novelty, however, is the Volta mode, where you can prove yourself off the field on the street. However, all other modes in FIFA 20 will also receive some changes and innovations. You can find an overview here:
However, there was a globally uniform release last year. Presumably, it won’t be worthwhile this year either to fiddle with store settings.
Last info before the start of the FIFA 20 demo
In recent years, EA Sports released an infographic with the most important information about the demo shortly before its start. This year, nothing has been released by the developers so far.
Presumably, they want to ease the rush on the stores, as there were frequently difficulties – especially in the PS Store – in the past years due to so many people wanting to download the demo at the same time.
