In FIFA 20, there will be a major update for the Copa Libertadores. The update is scheduled for March.
This is the Copa Libertadores: The Copa Libertadores, or CONMEBOL Libertadores, is the largest club competition in South American football. The Copa is equivalent to the European Champions League in South America. The winner also qualifies for the FIFA Club World Cup.
When is the update coming? The Copa starts at the beginning of the year, and the group stage runs from March. This is also when the update is scheduled. However, there is no exact release date yet.
What’s in the update?
This is how the Copa Libertadores comes to FIFA 20: EA Sports has already released initial information about the extensive update. It will cover the Career Mode, the Kick-Off Mode, and also a new CONMEBOL Libertadores Tournament Mode. Similar updates have occurred in previous FIFA installments, for example for the European Championships.
There will be the possibility to play with clubs from Uruguay, Peru, Paraguay, Ecuador, Brazil, and Argentina. EA lists clubs like River Plate, Boca Juniors, Flamengo, Corinthians, Racing Club, C.A. Independiente, Colo-Colo, and Universidad Católica as clubs that will be the focus of the update. EA has also already released a first trailer via Twitter:

For example, the Champions League has special cards and events in Ultimate Team, such as the “Path to Glory“. It currently seems unlikely that the Copa will be introduced in FUT to a similar extent.
However, it is quite possible that the Copa will at least receive its own weekly objectives and SBCs. This approach has already been taken for many events in real football and will likely be used in the case of the Copa as well.
By the way, there is currently a strange development in FIFA 20. Bad free kicks have suddenly become quite popular:
