The transfer market in real football is also noticeable in FIFA 20. Players change clubs – and can give you new opportunities when building your Ultimate Team!
That is why transfers are important: In Ultimate Team it’s about building a team of as strong players as possible. However, you need to pay attention to team chemistry. Depending on which club, league, and nationality a player represents, he will fit better with other players.
That is why especially transfers in real football are interesting that involve moving to a different league. This creates new combination possibilities. We show you a selection of particularly interesting transfers that open up new opportunities for your Ultimate Team!
Eden Hazard
That is why the Hazard transfer is interesting: Eden Hazard is one of the absolute top players in the world. This also applies to the FIFA series, which made Hazard one of the cover stars for FIFA 20. With the Belgian, Real Madrid, and thus the Spanish League, get a great forward. He won’t be easy to obtain, but if you build a La Liga team, you should try to buy Hazard at some point during the game (or pull him from packs).
Hazard now fits all La Liga players. As a Belgian, Hazard also gives you a good opportunity to build hybrid teams. For example, he fits with Axel Witsel (Bundesliga), Radja Nainggolan (Serie A), or Dries Mertens (also Serie A).
Nicolas Pépé
That is why the Pépé transfer is interesting: Pépé transferred this summer from LOSC Lille to FC Arsenal. His standard card doesn’t look like much at first. However, it’s to be expected that Pépé will get a significant upgrade next year. This season he has made quite an impression, as his TOTS card shows. With Pépé, you get a lightning-fast winger for your Premier League team.
In the Premier League, there are already very fast players like Sterling or Salah. However, Pépé is likely to be at least cheaper than Salah. If Serge Aurier from Tottenham Hotspur stays in the league, there’s even a strong connection due to nationality.
Joao Cancelo
That is why the Cancelo transfer is interesting: Joao Cancelo was one of the most popular right-backs in FIFA 19 and collected many special cards. He was extremely strong both defensively and offensively. For the upcoming season, he is joining Manchester City.
Cancelo is likely to be one of the best right-backs in FIFA 20. In real football, he has just become the most expensive right-back of all time. Therefore, the former Juventus player will be interesting for every Premier League team after he has left Italian Serie A. Additionally, there is a perfect connection to teammate Bernardo Silva.
Matthijs de Ligt
That is why the de Ligt transfer is interesting: The 20-year-old is considered a huge talent and was among the FIFA 19 Future Stars. With Ajax Amsterdam he stirred things up in the Champions League. Now the center-back has transferred to Juventus Turin – or in the case of FIFA 20 to Piemonte Calcio.
With this transfer, the Italians get another strong center-back, as de Ligt is also likely to be stronger than in FIFA 19. The Dutchman is also interesting for hybrid fans – which is related to our next transfer.
Frenkie de Jong
That is why the de Jong transfer is interesting: Frenkie de Jong played together with Matthijs de Ligt for Ajax Amsterdam. The 22-year-old has moved to the great FC Barcelona in the summer. There, he will be allowed to play in central midfield.
This provides the perfect link to de Ligt. The two Dutch players enable a strong La Liga-Serie A hybrid. Or: You can connect one of the two with Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk. However, that one is likely to become much more expensive.
Romelu Lukaku
That is why the Lukaku transfer is interesting: The forward from Manchester United has moved to Italy to Inter Milan. There the Belgian is now playing in attack.
Lukaku is a powerful forward that fits many players in Serie A. He offers you a strong alternative in attack – especially since he is likely to receive a small rating downgrade and will probably be a bit cheaper. Similar to Hazard, he is also very well suited as a Belgian to create hybrid teams.
Pablo Sarabia
That is why the Sarabia transfer is interesting: Pablo Sarabia is moving from the Spanish league from FC Sevilla to the stadiums of the French league to Paris Saint-Germain. The Spaniard had a base card with a rating of 83 since the winter upgrade in FIFA 19. In FIFA 20, he is likely to become a bit stronger.
Sarabia is a good all-rounder who has played both in the center and on the wing. With Sarabia, you get a Spaniard in the French league – and with that a strong combination option for La Liga and Ligue 1. This way, you can integrate the stars of PSG well into your teams, if you get them.
Kieran Trippier
That is why the Trippier transfer is interesting: Kieran Trippier played as an English right-back for the English club Tottenham Hotspur. In the Premier League, there were better alternatives. However, now the defensive specialist plays for Atlético Madrid.
That gives you an English right-back in the Spanish league. Most English players play in the Premier League, so you have a unique opportunity to connect your La Liga players with the English league. By the way, he also fits perfectly with Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho and thus offers the possibility of a Bundesliga-Premier-League hybrid.
Are more transfers coming?

These are the transfers we are still waiting for: In real football, the transfer window is still open in many leagues. For example, in the Bundesliga, one or another transfer could still take place. Especially FC Bayern is said to still plan a major transfer – it’s possible that things will shift here.
Furthermore, stars like Gareth Bale or Neymar are still being linked with a move. Players of such caliber would also cause shifts in Ultimate Team. But for now, it’s still: wait and see.
