In FIFA 20 there will be plenty of new features compared to FIFA 19. Alongside the major changes, there are also features that previously went unnoticed. We will show you seven of them here!
The overview of all major changes in FIFA 20 shows that the next installment of the series has quite a bit to offer, such as the Volta mode or new challenges in Ultimate Team.
The closed beta allowed some players to test a portion of the FIFA 20 features. Changes compared to FIFA 19 were also noted, which previously were not that prominent. We summarize these here!
New Features in FIFA 20
Fresh Timed Finishing
Here’s how Timed Finishing is changing: The Timed Finishing, which fans viewed quite ambivalently in FIFA 19, remains in the game. However, it will be modified: It becomes more important to hit the right timing during the shot indication – otherwise, the ball will go anywhere but towards the goal.
As reported by reddit user “Trhorror619“, the display speed in FIFA 20 is slowed down, making it at least easier to hit the exact shot point. If done correctly, the Timed Finish is superior to the normal shot – provided you are in a decent finishing position.
Slower Gameplay, New Playstyle
This is the effect of slower gameplay: Several beta testers report that the gameplay in the FIFA 20 beta feels slower than in FIFA 19. This is significant because it will no longer be so easy to take shots on goal from impossible positions and celebrate successes – the same apparently applies to unrealistic passes.

However, the slower gameplay allows players to position themselves in a realistic shooting position before taking a shot rather than just shooting from a spin. However, the increased difficulty requires this as well. At the same time, pace should again play a greater role – in FIFA 19, speed differences were sometimes hardly noticeable.
New Shooting Technique
This new option is available when shooting: To perfectly set up the ball, there is a new move called “Setup Touch”. By pressing R1 and selecting a direction with the right analog stick, you can precisely set the ball for the shot on goal. If everything goes right, you gain quite a bit of shooting accuracy.
New Visuals
This is changing visually: FIFA 20 brings a lot of new designs. This is especially true in Ultimate Team, where there are a whole series of new menus, which is also due to the changes in Ultimate Team.
In Career Mode, the menu also changes, with expanded features such as new stadium banners. The club Paris Saint-Germain used FIFA 20 to announce the transfer of Ander Herrera to Paris. There, you will get a first impression of how the visuals will look in the future:
Stamina has varied effects
This is what beta players noticed about stamina: Stamina seems to have a less pronounced effect on your players – at least in the kickoff mode. Reddit user “trhottor619” reported trying full pressing and continually sprinting. The result: even players whose stamina was completely depleted still felt “okay”. However, it is of course possible that this will be adjusted after the beta.

Additionally, this could vary from mode to mode: User “The Exonian” tested the FUT mode and reported that exhausted players showed weaknesses in ball control and were more easily dispossessed. The unpopular fitness cards in FUT will probably continue to accompany you.
The AI does not defend as strongly – but differently
This is how the AI defense operates differently: As announced by EA Sports, the AI defense has been significantly weakened. Active defending is thus rewarded. At the same time, the computer-controlled defense seems to have a new strength: intercepting passes.
Here, players must rely much more on lobbed passes – ground passes are apparently interrupted more often by the opponent. This means: More creativity in the attacking play is required.

Fewer frustrating goals in the last minutes
This is how FIFA 20 does it differently: Everyone knows them – suddenly on-rushing opponents who can turn a seemingly secure 2:0 victory into a 2:3 defeat out of nowhere. These seemingly impossible comebacks can be incredibly frustrating since in FIFA 19, you often had the impression you could do absolutely nothing about it.
Both “trhorror619” and “TheExonian” report from the beta that such shocks have been absent so far. If something like this happened, it was due to one’s own mistakes. The result: The game feels fairer and less dictated by outside forces, thus making it more enjoyable. Will this also remain after the beta?
At the latest with the demo, each of you can try out the new gameplay. All info on the FIFA 20 demo is available here.
