In FIFA 20, some players from the Bundesliga received improved standard cards through the Winter Refresh. We show you the cards that are now significantly more interesting.
What are winter upgrades? As part of the Winter Refresh event, EA distributes new, improved cards to players who have shown outstanding performances in the first half of the season.
However, unlike in previous years, this FUT year significantly fewer upgrades are distributed. Only 50 players received a winter upgrade in total in FUT 20. In FUT 19, there were still 23 just for the Bundesliga.
Nevertheless, the upgrades significantly improve a few players, and we show you the most interesting winter upgrades from the Bundesliga:
Erling Haaland: 73 to 79
Why is the card interesting? Haaland’s new gold card represents a huge jump compared to his original silver card, with which he started in FUT 20. There was an upgrade of 6 points in the overall rating, which should not surprise anyone considering his top performances in the first half of the season.

Timo Werner: 83 to 86
Why is the card interesting? Even before the upgrade, Werner’s 83-rated card was a fixed choice in many Bundesliga teams. This card was able to impress with a lot of speed, good dribbling, and strong shooting stats. This has not changed with his new 86-rated gold card – it is even significantly stronger!
Notably, the new shooting and passing stats are highlighted in this upgrade. However, the speed remains unchanged, which is not a problem. After all, Werner is still incredibly fast even without a pace upgrade.

Achraf Hakimi: 79 to 82
Why is the card interesting? Good right-backs are hard to find in FUT 20, especially for Bundesliga squads. This upgrade from Hakimi comes just in time. He improves by 3 points in the overall rating and has become a real option in the right-back position.
