Title Update 7 has been released today for FIFA 19 on PC. The patch brings changes to the Timed Finesse Shot, the goalkeeper’s speed, and other fixes.
In the latest update for FIFA 19, EA mainly addresses the Timed Finesse Shot (finesse shot with activated timing). This shot is considered particularly powerful in the community. Therefore, calls for a nerf have intensified. EA has addressed the issue, as previously announced.
We summarize what exactly Title Update 7 changes in the game for you.
These are the changes in Title Update 7
The patch mainly consists of two parts. The focus was on nerfing the Timed Finesse Shot. The other part includes smaller adjustments and fixes.
Timed Finesse Shot will be nerfed
How does the OP shot work? The Timed Finesse Shot is not very easy to handle. On your PS4 controller, you need to press R1 + Circle twice and on the Xbox controller RB + B + B. Additionally, you need to time it perfectly for the finesse shot. A charging bar will be displayed as a guide. You can activate the timing feature in the settings.
How the shooting technique is revised: According to the patch notes, the biggest problem with the Timed Finesse Shot was that poor timing while shooting was too forgiving. This affected the ball’s trajectory less negatively than one would expect.
This should now be a thing of the past with Title Update 7. If you land in the red or yellow area of the charging bar while shooting, it will now be punished more harshly.
The other changes mainly affect the charging bar for charged shots. After the update, good timing is even more critical, as the green area that allows for precise shots has been reduced. This makes it harder to land a really good Timed Finesse Shot.

While the yellow area has been enlarged, the precision of the shots has been decreased. The change affects all types of Timed Finesse Shots, such as the Powered Finesse Shot or shots in the box, close to the post.
What else changes with the update?
These are the other fixes:
- The movement speed of goalkeepers has been reduced
- The goalkeeper’s behavior in 1v1 situations has been adjusted
- Career: A bug was fixed where some players could no longer increase their ratings
- Career: The “Win the League” achievement is now displayed correctly when finishing the league in 1st place
- Career: The FA Cup final will no longer take place on the same day as the last matchday of the Premier League
- Pro Clubs: If a player controls the entire team, the player they select loses stamina as normal.
- Pro Clubs: Player data is now displayed correctly in the Club HUB
Not everyone is happy with the update
This is what the community says about the update: While most agree with the nerf of the finesse shot, they feel that the patch does not go far enough overall. After almost two months, many expected more; the last update came on December 6 of last year.
MeinMMO user Foxx382 initially finds the changes to the shots positive: “I like the change. A yellow TF [shot with shot timing] from 16/18/20/30 meters should not hit as often as it has so far. In the Weekend League, this has just been outrageous in recent months.”
However, he also sees the problem in game design, as the AI in defense forces one to: “The current state of AI defending … unfortunately makes it necessary to score with TF because the opponent stands with 10 men in their own penalty area and every “normal” shot is blocked by the AI defenders. Therefore, an AI defending nerf is urgently needed to make it worth combining into the box again.” This is also a reason why the Cement Tactic is currently played by so many players in the competitive area.
Many players are eagerly awaiting thorough changes to the AI of the defensive players. Many find them too strong. Jenzu9 wrote on Reddit: “They have neither nerfed the AI defense nor the team pressing. Prepare yourself for a header meta.”

Jenzu9 is not the only one concerned about this. While the nerf of the Timed Finesse Shot was necessary, many fear that the defensive AI and team pressing could dominate FIFA 19. Therefore, they would have liked a nerf for these aspects as well. The patch is being critically discussed in the FIFA 19 subreddit.
What is the problem with the defensive AI and pressing? According to players, the AI-controlled defense is too strong. Combined with pressing tactics, it is barely stoppable. Because players lose no stamina when they are not controlled by a human.
Criticism is directed at the fact that AI defenders never tire throughout the match and can easily push back significantly faster opponents because they are still in top shape.
There are further issues that parts of the community have criticized for a long time. They hope and demand that EA reacts faster to them in the future.
