Title Update No. 3 for FIFA 19 is here and makes some improvements. This includes a revision of shooting mechanics, and some players are getting new faces. We summarize the most important patch contents for you.
After the Title Update No. 2 a few weeks ago the next update for FIFA 19 for PC, Xbox One, and PS4 is now available.
The patch revises the shooting behavior and precision of virtual players, as well as the impact of defenders in certain situations. Additionally, around 50 players receive new, improved facial animations. You can read the detailed changes here.

The patch brings changes to shooting behavior
Among the biggest changes is the revision of finesse shots under certain circumstances. Furthermore, the influence of defenders on strikers who are about to shoot has been adjusted.
Direct shots from certain angles will be less precise
This is how finesse shots are revised: Finesse shots can now go wrong more often under certain circumstances. If the ball comes from a direction behind the player and he shoots directly, the ball’s speed, precision, and spin will now be more strongly influenced.
If the ball comes at an angle between 135 and 225 degrees to the player, i.e., the area behind the player, the subsequent shot will be less precise.
EA has released a diagram for this. 0° (Top) represents the view toward the goal.

How does this affect? EA provides us with comparison images that should show how the update affects the success rate of shots. For this, they took Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne and had him execute 100 finesse shots with balls coming from an angle of 135 and 180°.
Two diagrams show what changes occur with finesse shots taken directly from a 180° angle.
Before the update:

The blue lines show the hits into the net, the red ones are missed shots. After the update, shots miss significantly more often and show a greater variation in their trajectory.
After the update:

With shots where the ball came from a 135° angle, similar results are seen.

Defenders can annoy strikers better
What changes? According to EA, it has been observed that defenders standing directly in front of a shooting striker have little influence on the shot’s trajectory.
It is unrealistic and undesirable that strikers can finish successfully despite such pressure. Therefore, adjustments are also made here. Again, this is illustrated with a diagram, this time 100 shots were taken with Romelu Lukaku from Manchester United.

After the update:

Here, too, the influence of the update is visible. The defender seems to exert noticeably more pressure on the striker, resulting in more spread out and imprecise shots.
Conversely, defenders who attacked the striker from behind apparently had too great an influence on their shots. Adjustments were also made here, and shots are now more precise.

After the update:

Here, the adjustments are not quite as noticeable, yet it is clear that shots now miss less often.

Shots hit the posts less often
What changes? EA has observed that simple shots taken without pressure from other players frequently hit the post or go wide for no apparent reason.
This has now been revised. This is again illustrated by a graphic showing 100 attempts with Neymar.

New faces for players and managers
The update also brings a variety of revised faces for 48 players and 2 managers.
These are well-known players getting a new look: The list includes well-known names like Gareth Bale (Real Madrid) and Diego Costa (Atlético Madrid), as well as former Bundesliga players like Heung Ming Son (Tottenham Hotspur).
Here you see Diego Costa as an example:

Further examples and a complete list can be found on the EA page for Title Update No. 3. Based on feedback, more faces are to be improved in the future.
