On Thursday evening, EA Sports announced Prime Icon Set 3 in FIFA 19. The SBC went live – and soon disappeared. Some players had already started to complete the SBC. Was the set too good to be true? The set is back now.
This is Prime Icon Set 3: The third Prime Icon Set consists of legends Zanetti, Giggs, Hagi, Vieri, and Zola. Players can earn one player from this set as usual via Prime Icon SBC. However, the release brought some irregularities.
SBC offline shortly after: Only a few hours after the Prime Icon SBC went live, it was gone again. EA Sports announced via Twitter that the Squad Building Challenge will be released again at a later time with “updated requirements.”
Why did EA disable the SBC again?
SBC too easy? EA Sports has not yet provided an official reason for this step. There was intense discussion in the FIFA forums.
A possible reason for the quick withdrawal: Compared to the first two Icon SBCs, the SBC was noticeably easier and cheaper. FIFA players were happy about this in the evening and now fear that the requirements will significantly increase.
SBC repeatable: However, the most likely reason is that the partial SBCs were repeatable, unlike previous examples. And as usual, the rewards were very good:
For partial challenges three and four, there was a Rare Player Pack and a Jumbo Rare Player Pack – two of the best packs in the game!
In exchange, eleven gold players, including three TOTW players, had to be submitted – however, the team rating did not matter here!
The fourth challenge involved exchanging an Icon card. The catch: The Icon card exchanged at the end of the challenge could simply be reused. Thus, repeating the partial challenges was a good way to scoop up some cheap packs.
SBC back online – exchanged players return
Players already crafted: Although the SBC was only available for a short time, many players were already trading wildly. However, not all players completed the entire challenge and traded in their expensive icons or TOTW players without getting a new legend in return.
Update November 17th, 11:30 AM:
EA returns players: The Prime Icon Set 3 is back online. EA announced via Twitter that the players who were already exchanged will return to their clubs – this process may take several hours. No further compensation has been announced.
