In FIFA 19 there is a new event called “Prime Icon Moments”. Starting Friday, you can draw enhanced icons from packs. The community reception to the new event has been somewhat mixed.

On February 22nd, new Prime Icon Moments were introduced – featuring Pelé and Maradona!
This is “Prime Icon Moments”: The new event revolves around the “Icon” cards in FUT 19, as the name suggests. More specifically, it is about the “Prime Icons”. These are the best versions of certain legend cards and represent the peak of the respective players’ careers.
With the new event, even better versions of selected legend cards are coming. These are intended to celebrate heroic moments of the icons in FIFA 19.
New Icons: When will the boosted legends arrive?
These are the new legends: So far, EA Sports has revealed three new legend cards that you can draw starting Friday. However, additional names will be added to the following three:
- Thierry Henry (Total 94)
- Lothar Matthäus (Total 94)
- George Best (Total 94)

Legends in comparison: The new Moments cards are each one point stronger in the overall rating than the previous Prime Icons.
From this point on, the new cards are available: The Prime Icon Moments event begins next Friday, February 15th. The new legend cards will be available in packs starting at 7 PM. At the same time, the “Winter Refresh” will start.
It might be worthwhile to save the Weekend League rewards for a day.
What else the event will bring apart from the new cards is still unclear from EA. It’s possible that SBCs will also be part of the event. Further information is also expected on Friday.
Prime Icon Best is no longer the best Best
This is how the event is being received: What looks like a confused sentence is actually the crux of the current criticism that the new event is facing: The Prime Icon version of George Best is no longer the best variant of the legendary striker. This applies to the other “selected icons” that are now receiving even better versions.
Effort wasted? The previously released Prime versions of the legends were available in extremely expensive and elaborate SBCs. On reddit, concerns are being raised: All the effort to obtain the best possible cards might have been in vain – as someone will simply draw the even better versions from packs.
At least: EA announced via Twitter that “later in FIFA 19” there will be SBCs where already owned Prime Icons can be exchanged for the Moments versions. However, this later date has not been specified further, so it could still be a long time after the event.
The next top cards: At the same time, the criticism is also directed at the new “Super cards” in general: After all, EA has just recently introduced new events with the Future Stars and the Headliners, flooding the market with extremely strong cards. The criticism: The new event is allegedly aimed solely at selling as many packs as possible.
This criticism has already been directed at EA during the TOTY and other new events. Not unfounded: After all, some players invested a lot of real money in packs, without pulling a single event player.
