EA no longer releases any more SBCs for Prime Icon Moments cards in FIFA 19. This means some of the best cards have now become unattainable.
Update: If you are looking for the new Icons in FIFA 20, you can find them here.
These are Prime Icon Moments cards: With the new Prime Icon Moments introduced in February, a fourth form of Icon cards entered the game. Up until that point, Prime Icons were always the strongest icons.
- Base Icon -> Middle Icon -> Prime Icon -> Prime Icon Moment
EA gradually released new Prime Icon Moments cards in the past weeks. These could either be unlocked through SBCs or pulled from packs.
Here lies the problem: Since pulling Moments cards from packs is only a theoretical possibility, many FUT players used the SBCs to get the strongest version of their favorite icon.
For example, the Moments SBCs for the following players were still missing:
- Ronaldo
- Pelé
- Gullit
- Ronaldinho
- Vieira
- Eusebio
Many players eagerly awaited the Prime Icon Moment SBC for Ronaldo (97), as R9 is simply unavailable in the transfer market. The card is so rare that it gets bought up immediately for the maximum price (15 million coins) whenever it is briefly available.
EA Angers the Fans
This is what happened: On Friday, EA unexpectedly released a whole series of Icon SBCs. Surprisingly, no Moment SBCs were offered for many cards.
For the popular cards of Ronaldo, Pele, Gullit, Ronaldinho, Viera, and Eusebio, only Prime SBCs are provided. So, you cannot obtain Moments versions of these cards via SBC.
This is what EA says: The decision is justified by stating that the prices of some Icon Moments cards exceed the cost limits for Icon SBCs.
This is incomprehensible for many FUT players, as EA has control over the prices themselves. They could simply make the Prime Icon Moments SBCs a bit cheaper.
Additionally, EA announced that these will be the last Icon SBCs in FUT 19. No more Prime or Prime Moments SBCs will be released.
How the Community Responds
This is what the community says: FIFA fans are angry and are expressing their outrage, especially on Twitter.
Comments such as: ,,Instead of lowering the prices for the SBCs, you don’t release them at all” or ,,So none of us will ever be able to play with R9 (97), as only 2 cards are in the game” can be seen.
Similarly, FUT players are frustrated that many other Icon cards will also no longer receive Moments versions after this announcement. This includes players like Lampard, Nesta, Raul, Owen, or Klose.
