New gameplay material for FIFA 19 has been released. Check out a Champions League match between FC Bayern and Manchester City here.
Since Gamescom 2018, official ingame footage of complete FIFA 19 matches has been circulating. Until now, one could only view any potential leaks that were taken offline after a few hours if one wanted to watch FIFA 19 gameplay.

What can be seen in the video?
Official matches at Gamescom: During Gamescom, there were several show matches between German eSports players MoAubameyang (ManCity) and TimoX08 (Bayern). The above-embedded video is one of them, published by the Youtube channel E-Football Nation.
Initially, the players make changes to the lineup. Starting from minute 1:01, the new menu of dynamic tactics can be seen, which is counted among the major gameplay innovations of FIFA 19.
At minute 2:01, the match starts. Normally, cutscenes would be shown to capture the Champions League atmosphere – usually, the trophy and the CL anthem are played – however, this is skipped.
Highlights of the match:
- The display is in the original CL format. The CL symbol can also be seen in the upper left next to the clock.
- From 2:48, a nice counter starts, leading to a ManCity goal.
- Immediately afterward, the score is 1:1. Robben curls the ball into the far corner with his strong left foot.
- At 5:24, the leading goal for Bayern falls. After a cross, Lewandowski heads the ball in. However, the goalkeeper should have caught the cross that flew close to him. We have already reported that the goalkeepers in FIFA 19 do not perform well.
- The match ends 1:2, Bayern wins. Throughout the game, new animations and tricks are observed, opening up new possibilities on the field.
- The game is commented in German. Therefore, it is worth listening to the video as well.
What do the fans say? In the comments under the video, the focus is mainly on the ping-pong passes, which are criticized. The passes are said to be too fast and too precise, especially the passes from a turn. Overall, the mood is rather cautious; the gameplay has hardly evolved.
The Champions League in FIFA 19
The Champions League comes to FIFA 19: In the video, FC Bayern plays against Manchester City in the Champions League. The CL license is considered one of the biggest innovations in FIFA 19.
However, no significant CL atmosphere is present in the upper video. The players skip all cutscenes, and the commentators overlay the sound.
Nevertheless, fans can look forward to these CL features in FIFA 19:
- Official CL match presentation being used in the 18/19 season.
- Official Champions League anthem.
- Official team crests, match balls, and UEFA trophies.
- New camera perspectives in the intro when the teams line up.
- Additionally, the menus are designed in the corresponding colors of the Champions League or Europa League.
- The Champions League is integrated into the new kickoff mode, into Ultimate Team, into The Journey, and into career mode.
