The discussion about how pronounced the pay-to-win factor in FIFA 19 is, is heating up this year due to many events and special cards. The streamer “Badeschlappen” is trying to succeed at a high level without purchasing FIFA Points – and he is successful!
This is “Badeschlappen”: The FIFA pro “Badeschlappen” is actually named Lukas Hösch and is contracted as an official content creator for 1. FC Nürnberg. Among other things, Hösch has 150,000 viewers on Twitch.
He also uploads videos on YouTube, with a special twist: unlike many other streamers, Hösch completely refrains from using real money in his “Road to Glory” series. He builds his team through smart investments, many SBCs, and of course a lot of playtime at a high level.

“Unfortunately almost standard”
This is what the Badeschlappen team looks like: “I would describe myself as a solid FIFA player who is passionate about it,” Hösch explains in an interview with “BFV“. His goal is to “entertain people with my content and give good tips.”
And there are plenty of good tips for players who want to pursue their FUT career without FIFA Points at Badeschlappen. The streamer shows how to build a strong team even without using real money. The current Badeschlappen eleven is quite impressive:

Top team without money: Neymar, icons, lots of colorful cards – the Badeschlappen squad is a strong team, though it could still be improved in some areas. Badeschlappen tries to earn the necessary money wisely through trading.
One example: In preparation for the Champions Cup taking place in Atlanta this weekend, Badeschlappen stocked up on American players from the transfer market – preferably at rock-bottom prices. For possible thematic SBCs, Badeschlappen is now ready – and if none come, he would simply sell the cheaper acquisitions at a higher price.
With patience to success
Top players not unreachable: “Unfortunately, it has become almost standard that even as a ‘normal casual gamer,’ one invests money in FIFA Ultimate Team to afford the best players,” Hösch explains. “I wanted to take a different path and show my viewers that it is also possible to assemble a strong team without spending huge amounts of money.”
The streamer proves this with hard numbers: Hösch has more than two million coins in his pocket. A dream player like the TOTY version of Kanté, which Hösch really wants, is therefore no longer out of reach.

Reduce “pay-to-win”: With his videos, Hösch wants to point out that it is also possible without FIFA Points. The TOTY event for example showed that purchasing packs can lead to a lot of frustration. Especially younger players are too easily tempted to spend their pocket money on packs:
“Packs certainly add to the appeal of Ultimate Team, because everyone – at least in theory – has a chance at the best players in FIFA. However, I would appreciate it if one could no longer buy FIFA Points and thus reduce the pay-to-win factor.” This regulation has already been implemented in Belgium.
The streamer aims to fulfill his role model function: “Especially in the gaming industry, where many young people are active, one should be aware of this and act accordingly.” Also in FIFA, the tone can be very rough at times: “Many people forget that it is just a game that is primarily meant to be fun.”
The example of “Badeschlappen” shows that it is also possible to be successful in FUT without purchasing FIFA Points. However, it should be noted that Lukas Hösch invests an enormous amount of time and preparation into his FIFA career. The professional is playing at the Weekend League rank Elite 3 – and trading requires time.
