In FIFA 18 Ultimate Team, we present Premier League predictions for the winter upgrades. Which players could receive upgrades and downgrades in the ratings refresh?
In FUT 18, the “ratings refresh” phase is approaching. Within a few weeks, numerous footballers will receive upgrades and downgrades on their standard cards. Before FIFA 17, there were only “winter upgrades”, but now, with the ratings refresh, winter downgrades are also possible.
The ratings refresh returns in FUT 18. Players who have shown strong performances on the pitch in recent months and have managed to stand out will receive better standard cards. Those footballers who have fallen short of expectations will be penalized with downgrades, meaning worse standard cards.
An official release date for the new cards is not yet known. We assume that the “ratings refresh” phase will begin in mid-February, starting from 16.2.
Forecast for Premier League players who could receive upgrades and downgrades
We will only find out which players are involved in the ratings refresh when EA Sports releases them. Until then, you can see here predictions for Premier League players who, according to the fifauteam site, would deserve upgrades or downgrades.

How do I get an upgrade card with a higher overall rating?
As soon as the winter upgrade cards are released, they can be drawn in the sets. The only requirement is that the set can include players. The “old” cards of the respective players will no longer be found in the sets from this moment on – only the new standard cards will remain in the packs until the end of FUT 18.
If you already own a card of a player who is being upgraded, it will remain unchanged. It will not be automatically updated. If you want the player’s card with improved attributes, you must draw it from a set. It is also possible to purchase the winter upgrade cards from other players on the transfer market.
In other words: After the ratings refresh, two versions of standard cards of the respective player coexist in FUT.
