In FIFA 18 Ultimate Team, there is currently a weekly challenge that divides the community. When it comes to online victories, some players seem to go to any lengths.
Currently, an important phase is taking place in FUT 18. The “Team of the Season” is in full swing and the World Cup mode is coming up.
Additionally, there is currently a weekly task to earn a TOTS card under certain conditions.
This week, the weekly challenge has put the FIFA community in an uproar because: What is supposed to create unity among players is being shamelessly exploited by some gamers.
The community tries to help each other with the challenge
What is the weekly task to master? Since Friday, May 11 at 7 PM, there is a challenge to score two goals with MLS players, that is, players from the American Soccer League, in ten separate matches. If you achieve this within a week, you will receive a “Team of the Season” card featuring Diego Valeri.
Why does everyone want this TOTS card? TOTS cards are highly sought after. They have received strong upgrades and have good stats. Additionally, there are TDS SBCs twice a week, where you can trade a TOTS card for a better TOTS player.
What is the challenge’s difficulty? The matches must be played in “Online Seasons” mode. There are ten leagues here, with the best players in League 1 and the weakest in League 10. Playing in the lower leagues, scoring ten goals with MLS players is not an issue, but in League 1, it becomes challenging. There aren’t many strong MLS cards, and scoring against the best FIFA players is hard enough as it is.
This method helps players to assist each other
In the upper leagues of FUT Seasons, a method has emerged:
- Create an MLS team. Before the match, you will see the badge, Gamertag, club name, and team name of the opponent. The latter can be changed for any team created in your FUT club.
- Clarify intent in the name. If you want to participate in the MLS Challenge, change your name to “2 MLS Goals”, “MLS Challenge plz”, or something similar. This way, you can manually filter and start matches only with like-minded players.
- Let each other score. Then you take turns letting the other player score a goal with an MLS player. From 2:2 onwards, you continue playing as if the game started at 0:0.
Bad gamers exploit the goodwill of the FIFA community
Not everyone wants to participate in the weekly task. Some have already completed it or simply do not need the TOTS card. Of course, there is nothing wrong with playing regular Online Seasons.
However, some of these people take advantage of the helpfulness of other gamers. These players pretend that they also want to complete the challenge.
They create a team named “MLS Goals” or something similar. Then they also include at least one MLS player in their starting lineup. Potential victims now believe they are facing someone like-minded.
If the opponent is trusting of the fraudster and lets them score the first goal, they will start their nefarious plan.
Instead of allowing the opponent to score their goals with MLS players as well, they continue to play normally and defend properly. Thus, they “cheat” their way to a 1-2 goal lead.
Especially in the upper leagues, where the matches are extremely balanced, 1-2 goals can often make the difference between victory and defeat.
Exploited players express their discontent
This weekly task separated the helpful players from those who only see their own success. This obviously caused discontent and discussions on platforms like reddit.
Many players report how opponents tried to fool them. Some still won the match, while others did not. For those, this is particularly frustrating:
They have neither gotten one step closer to the weekly challenge nor earned a point in the online seasons, although they may have won or at least drawn under normal circumstances.
Philipp says: I too have encountered some of these “cheaters”. While one is still more motivated to win the game in the end, doing so with half an MLS team and a 1-2 goal deficit is not exactly easy. Nevertheless, I had good experiences as well. In 14 matches, I met ten people who let me score two goals. A nice conversation also developed through the microphone feature due to the MLS challenge, even though there was initial distrust.
