In FIFA 18 the update 1.05 is available for download and installation. These are the patch notes for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
If you want to play FIFA 18 online today, you need to download a new update first. This went live on 14.11. and has the version number 1.05.

What changes with 1.05? – Patch notes
In the past few days, an “exploit” was causing issues in FUT 18. This made it relatively easy to win on the ultimate difficulty level in Squad Battles and thus earn a high points yield.
One only needed to take a few extremely poor players (of bronze quality) into the team and used them on the field to shield the ball. The aggressive AI on ultimate difficulty would often be tempted to commit a foul. This was repeated until the opponents received a few red cards. Then you could simply carry away the victory.
Since Squad Battles offer excellent rewards for the best players and one could gain enormous advantages through this “trick”, EA had to react. And they are now doing so with this update 1.05.
EA Sports, however, does not refer to it as “exploit” but rather as an “unintended gameplay mechanic”. These are the changes in English:
- The possibility for a player controlled by the CPU AI to receive a second yellow card when attempting to push or pull an opponent has been removed. This does not apply to strikers who have penetrated towards the goal and are in a 1vs.1 situation with the goalkeeper.
- This change has no effect on players controlled by humans.
EA Sports explains: The CPU plays the game with the same input restrictions as a human player. This means that the CPU also has an active player, who is referred to here as the “player controlled by the CPU AI”.
Now it should be fair again in the Squad Battles.
