#FixFIFA is currently spreading like wildfire on Reddit, Twitter, and YouTube. The players want to collectively urge EA Sports to improve FIFA 18. What is behind it?
Recently, the user PuRe_SSROCK posted a detailed opinion piece in the Reddit forum, which he simply named #FixFIFA. Within a very short time, he received over 8000 upvotes and significant community support. This hashtag #FixFIFA is now rapidly spreading on social networks.
On the front page of the FIFA Reddit, there are currently (21.11.) 18 posts that also have the hashtag #FixFIFA in the title or directly refer to it. On Twitter, tweets with this hashtag are coming in every minute. YouTubers are already referencing it as well.
In other words, there is currently almost no other topic in the community. Together and united, they want to make a change – they want to urge EA Sports to improve FIFA 18.
What is #FixFIFA actually about?
SSROCK writes that he has played every FIFA since FIFA 04 and has experienced the highs and lows of this franchise. In his opinion, FIFA 18 was nearly perfect at release, but that changed drastically with the following patches.
Now he wants to achieve something similar to the community of Star Wars Battlefront 2. They protested together against the “loot box disaster” in Battlefront 2, so that the microtransactions were quickly removed by EA – at least temporarily. The community was able to make a change.
The #FixFIFA movement aims to unite the frustrated FIFA community in a similar way, so they can collectively advocate for a better FIFA 18.
Specifically, SSROCK is concerned about these points:
- The packs in Ultimate Team mode are far too reliant on luck and have terrible drop rates. You can spend a few dollars and with a lot of luck get a Cristiano Ronaldo, or spend thousands of dollars and still never see a top player. Users with the best teams put enormous amounts of money into this mode, which is absurd for an annual installment. The focus should be less on microtransactions and more on gameplay.
- EA Sports has changed the gameplay drastically since launch. Many players just wanted the long shots to be toned down a bit. However, bigger changes came: defending was completely overhauled, the gameplay feels slower, goalkeepers behave very differently, the game is no longer fun and is also not competitive. This FIFA 18 is not the FIFA 18 that was paid for in September.
- The weekend league needs to be extended. Anyone who wants to succeed in this mode must complete 40 matches within a few days. That is “unhealthy”, many players cannot sustain that for months. Generally, the weekend league needs to be restructured.
- EA only takes care of FUT. In particular, the “Pro Clubs” mode is neglected. It has so much unused potential. EA is accused of only focusing on FUT because this mode makes enormous amounts of money through microtransactions.
- The leveling in the EASFC catalog is broken.
- Penalty kicks need a fundamental overhaul. They are based on luck and are not skill-based at all.
- Cheating on PC remains a problem.
- Additionally, many complain about input delay, meaning that the players on the field only react with a delay.
- Moreover, many users believe that the momentum in FIFA 18 is greater than ever before.
- There are numerous other issues highlighted by other users.

If you want to support this movement, the community suggests three things:
- Spread the hashtag #FixFIFA on social networks.
- Boycott Black Friday in FUT. This event is set to take place on 24.11., during which EA Sports will offer a lot of packs at high prices. Read all previous info on Black Friday in FUT here.
