In FIFA 18 the most important innovations of the “Pro Clubs” mode are known. This is what you need to know for the new club season on PS4, Xbox One, and PC!
For many fans, the club mode is the most important mode of the annual FIFA series. The reason: It provides the most intense online experience, where even 11vs11 matches are possible. Together with a few buddies, you can play together in the club and compete online against other clubs.
In doing so, you create your own Virtual Pro, which you can customize and improve over time. This online experience mixed with the progress system of your own “Pro” is what attracts many to Pro Clubs.
In FIFA 18, the club mode returns in polished form. It features four important innovations.
These 4 Things Are New in Pro Clubs
Veteran club players have been wishing for years that EA Sports would invest more love into the club mode, provide more customization options, and make the gaming experience more social. It has been criticized that the focus in recent years has been too much on FUT 18 and that Pro Clubs has been neglected.
While FIFA 18 does not bring revolutionary innovations, it does include a few sensible changes.
A New, Better Game Lobby
Before a match, club players gather in the game lobby, where they choose their lineup and start the match. In FIFA 18, this lobby has been significantly improved. It is now more user-friendly, efficient, and reduces annoying waiting times.
In the game lobby, you have 5 options:
- The tab called Game Lobby shows all players present in the lobby. Here you choose your position.
- In Playing Styles, you can switch between your three playing styles – these are a new feature explained further down.
- In Lineup, you choose a formation. Our formation guide can help you with this choice.
- In Roles, you can choose the roles on the field, such as the captain, corner and free-kick takers, or penalty takers.
- In Settings, you determine your jersey and choose whether the opponent search should consider the random position, the goalkeeper, or a minimum number of opponents. In game type, you decide whether the game should be a league, cup, or friendly match.

Playing Styles
Playing styles are what one might call “loadouts” in other games. You can skill your Pro in various ways and save this. For example, create a striker, a midfielder, and a defender. Each can have different body measurements and skills.
In total, you have three playing styles available. You can find them under “Player Development” or in the game lobby.
Until now, you had to painstakingly rebuild your Pro if you wanted to play a different position. In FIFA 18, you can quickly switch between playing styles. This saves time.
New Skill Tree – Player Attributes
Your virtual Pro now has access to a comprehensive skill tree, divided into the areas of physical, defense, dribbling, passing, shooting, pace, and goalkeeping. In each of these areas, you can unlock specific player attributes that improve your Pro.
To unlock these, you need skill points, which you earn by playing matches.
With this skill tree, you can customize your Pro and decide whether you want to focus more on stamina or high shooting power values.
Jersey Customization
In FIFA 17, you could already create your own jerseys in the club, but the options were quite limited. In FIFA 18, 12 new colors are expected to be added.
If you not only have to manage your Pro Club but also your club in career mode, here are the best talents you should look out for.
