In FIFA 18, a player’s attributes determine their quality. However, it is not always obvious what impact certain traits have on the game. We will focus on the attribute “Vision”.
If you want to dominate in your FIFA 18 matches, it is important to know the strengths and weaknesses of your players. Besides skill and luck, this knowledge is an important third pillar on which you should rely. This allows you to strengthen your team intelligently and continuously improve your gameplay.
This is the influence of the attribute “Vision”
Most attributes of your players are self-explanatory, such as shot power or sprint speed. But what does “Vision” actually provide? Does not the FIFA player in front of the screen have to demonstrate vision to see the better-positioned player and then pass to him? What does this player attribute actually bring?
The vision of your players determines the likelihood that a long pass successfully reaches its target. This attribute is crucial for both field players and goalkeepers.
When we look at the screen, we have an excellent overview of the pitch and the game with normal camera settings. Essentially, it is like watching a football match on TV.
However, you must keep in mind that your players have a completely different perspective on the action; they cannot see all your teammates’ positions at a glance, especially those positioned behind them.
This situation is simulated by the attribute “Vision”. Even though we can see exactly where the teammate is standing or where he is running, your passers are often forced to execute a no-look pass. This pass can land at any target: with the teammate, with the opponents, or completely out of bounds.
The better the vision attribute, the further your player can see and find teammates. In other words: This increases the chance that a long pass will reach its target.
Here is where vision is particularly important
On which positions is the attribute “Vision” particularly valuable? Essentially, exactly where a lot of long passes are played and the game is built up. Vision is also important for crosses.
- High importance: GK, CM, RM, LM, RW, LW
- Medium importance: LB, RB, DM, CAM
- Low importance: Forward and CB
Of course, it always depends on your personal play style how the respective importance turns out. In FIFA 18, this attribute is also crucial for goalkeepers to successfully find their target, even if it is just a throw.
Which players have the highest vision values
The icons have the best vision in FIFA 18, such as Pelé (97 vision), Maradona (95), or Laudrup (94).
Among the standard cards, Iniesta leads this ranking with 94, followed by David Silva (92) and Mesut Özil (92).
Is it worth building an Ultimate Team focused on vision?
Not really. On the one hand, not all players need high vision; other attributes are much more important. On the other hand, players with strong vision values are very expensive. If the midfield is filled with such players, that should be sufficient for a nice build-up. If you still want to rely on this attribute, the BBVA is recommended, as there are many players with high vision values.
What else is there to know about the attribute “Vision”?
- The size of a player does not have a positive influence on vision in FIFA 18. Interestingly, even smaller players tend to have a pronounced vision attribute.
- Vision does not influence your players’ penalty abilities.
- Vision does not influence short passes. It only affects long passes and crosses.
- Furthermore, it is very important for a player with high vision that their teammates are free. Otherwise, a long pass is likely to be intercepted by the opponent. The receivers should therefore have decent values in the “Positioning” attribute for the passes to be successful.
What about the attribute “Pace”? Everything about pace and dribblers is here.
