The World Cup national player of Senegal, Kalidou Koulibaly, is somewhat oversized in the Ultimate Team mode of FIFA 18. EA made an error in his creation by eight centimeters.
Many football players wish they were taller than they actually are. There have already been a few cases where transfers involved some exaggeration regarding height.
Koulibaly has even managed to add a few centimeters in FIFA 18: he is listed as 1.95 meters in FUT instead of 1.87 meters.
Height difference highlighted by Patrick Vieira
A picture of Vieira and Koulibaly causes confusion. A shared image of the French icon and the Senegalese defender sparked discussions last month on reddit. Because Patrick Vieira is 1.93 meters tall and towers over Koulibaly by a few centimeters in the picture. However, in Ultimate Team, Koulibaly is listed as two centimeters taller than Vieira on his card.
Comparison with Salif Sane during the World Cup anthem confirms miscalculation. During Senegal’s first World Cup match against Poland, Koulibaly stood next to his partner in defense: Salif Sane from Hannover 96. The Bundesliga IV is 1.96 tall, so only one centimeter taller than Koulibaly in FUT. However, during the anthem, even the last person would recognize: Kalidou Koulibaly is definitely not 1.95 meters tall.
EA is not to blame, has Koulibaly lied about his height?
Height of 1.95 reported almost everywhere. EA has little blame for this mishap. When searching for the height of the Senegalese, the wrong, larger value was often found. One possible explanation could be that Koulibaly exaggerated his height by a few centimeters a few years ago. In the meantime, several sites have recorded the correct height of 1.87 meters again.
EA had the correct height in 2013. It becomes even stranger because Koulibaly was initially listed as 1.86 in FIFA 13. In February, according to sofifa the change to 1.95 meters occurred. It seems that this error only came to light over four years later when he attracted attention at Napoli.
The error has been corrected, but not in FUT
Error noticed, but not adjusted everywhere. The notable height difference has not gone unnoticed by EA. His height was adjusted in October in FIFA 18 overall and on his World Cup card. Only in the Ultimate Team mode is Koulibaly still a real giant in defense. EA may want to prevent a sudden drop in the market price of his card. After all, eight centimeters make a big difference in header duels.
Correct height in FIFA 19? In September, Koulibaly should receive a “height downgrade” again in Ultimate Team. In the database, he is back at 1.87 meters, and there is no reason to continue using the incorrect height in FIFA 19 Ultimate Team.
