This week in FIFA 16 Ultimate Team is all about the Team of the Year (TOTY). The squad has just been announced, and initial player data has been released.
At the Ballon d’Or Gala in Zurich, several awards were just presented, including the coveted Ballon d’Or, which went to Lionel Messi. This marks the fifth time the cover star of FIFA 16 has been named World Footballer of the Year. As part of this event, the Team of the Year will be revealed this week in FUT; these are highly sought-after player cards that everyone would love to have in their Ultimate Team.
However, EA Sports does not select the TOTY themselves. These players are chosen by the footballers themselves for the FIFPro World XI. According to current information from FIFPro, 26,478 players from 68 different countries participated.
The chosen players are: Manuel Neuer, Marcelo, Thiago Silva, Sergio Ramos, Dani Alves, Andrés Iniesta, Luka Modric, Paul Pogba, Neymar, Lionel Messi, and Cristiano Ronaldo.
The goalkeeper and defenders have just had their player ratings posted on futhead.com. Let’s take a look.
Goalkeeper: Manuel Neuer
With an overall rating of 96 and excellent stats in Diving (Div) and Reflexes, the blue Manuel Neuer outshines all previous goalkeepers. The highest-rated goalkeeper in FUT so far has also been Manuel Neuer with 90, and as an In-Form player even with 91. With a respectful distance, David De Gea follows with an overall rating of 86.
Left Back: Marcelo
Marcelo has had an overall rating of 83 so far, and as In-Form even 84. Thus, his overall value has improved by up to 6 points. Until now, the top left back by overall rating has been the Austrian David Alaba with a value of 85.
Center Back: Thiago Silva and Sergio Ramos
Ramos has had an overall rating of 87 so far. The leading center back was previously the in-form Brazilian Thiago Silva with an overall rating of 89. Silva has therefore improved his overall value by 5 points.
Right Back: Dani Alves
So far, the in-form Philipp Lahm with an overall value of 88 has been the leading right back in the game.
These cards are set to be released at 8pm (UK time), which is 9pm our time, and will be available in packs until January 13th at 7pm. Then the midfielders will come. The forwards will be found in packs on January 15th at 7pm. The entire Team of the Year is expected to be available in packs from January 16th to January 18th. It is therefore particularly worthwhile to invest coins or FIFA Coins in packs.
