EA Sports is diligently updating the cards of some ball artists in FIFA 16: Ultimate Team during the winter transfer window.
During their careers, many players change clubs as they seek new challenges, are dissatisfied with their old club, or simply attracted by big money. In most countries, like Germany, the transfer window ends in early February. Until then, clubs still have the opportunity to significantly strengthen their teams with intelligent purchases.
The football simulation FIFA 16 also reacts to current events in the real football world, which is why EA Sports is currently busy updating the cards of some players in FUT. This aims to keep the game up to date.
What do I need to know about winter transfers?
When will the updated player cards be available? When a footballer changes clubs, EA Sports tries to quickly integrate the new player cards into the game. So far, several hundred players have been released with their new clubs. These are already available in various sets, which can be purchased in the shop for coins or FIFA Points. Depending on what events still take place on the transfer market, EA Sports will incorporate these timely and step by step into the game.
What happens to the old player cards? If you already own a card that now has an updated version, it will not be updated. This means, in FIFA 16: FUT some football players have two regular cards, one with the old club and one with the new club. The old versions are still fully playable – they do not expire.
Can I still pull the old player cards from the packs? Only the updated cards can now be found in the packs. Only on the Ultimate Team transfer market can the previous cards be purchased – if someone offers them.
Which players will be transferred? This is strictly oriented to current events on the real transfer market. For example, you could already pull a new player card for Jonas Hofmann with Gladbach as the club. By the way: If a player from a league that EA does not have a license for transfers to an existing club or vice versa, there will be no player card (anymore). EA Sports estimates that over 1000 players need to be updated. However, it can also happen that players are “forgotten” in smaller leagues. But they would strive to proceed as efficiently as possible.
Will the cards of loaned players also be updated? Yes, even if a player changes clubs on loan, this will be recognized by EA Sports and integrated into the game with an updated card.
Can I have both versions of a player in my club? Yes, that is possible. However, only one version of the player can be nominated in a squad.
What advantage does all of this have? With FIFA 16, EA Sports aims to simulate football as realistically as possible and thus tries to stay up to date, especially regarding players and clubs. Additionally, with the updated cards, there is a chance to further strengthen your own Ultimate Team, as the opportunities for good chemistry increase. Even if you already have a lineup you are very satisfied with, new options arise to improve it.
What about player upgrades? Player upgrades are supposed to come after the player transfers. The upgrades will modify the individual player ratings to reflect the current performances of the professionals. Highly valuable upgrades might include players like Aubameyang or Douglas Costa.
Updated player cards due to the winter transfer can also receive an upgrade.
