In FIFA 16, the drama surrounding a boy who spent nearly 5000 euros using his father’s credit card has now had a happy ending.
In FIFA 16: Ultimate Team, a 17-year-old boy from Canada invested several thousand Canadian dollars with his father’s credit card in FUT packs before Christmas. Allegedly, he was unaware of it. He did not know that each pack costs extra. He thought he only had to make a one-time payment, the teenager recounted.
Consequently, the shock was great for both him and his father when the bill arrived.
Now, however, Lance Perkins, the father of the spendthrift teenager, has received the full amount of 7,625.88 Canadian dollars (about 5000 euros) back from Xbox.
Decision in Extra Time
In the meantime, the son admitted that he intentionally used his father’s credit card to make purchases on Xbox. Nevertheless, the father insists that especially the amount of these purchases was very surprising for the son. His credit card company, however, stated that there was nothing they could do.
Initially, Microsoft’s position was: The bill is valid. After the father repeatedly pointed out that his son was still a minor, the company promised to take another look at the situation.
On Monday, January 25th, Microsoft refunded everything, as Perkins now reports. He is “very satisfied” and hopes that through his example, people are now warned that FIFA 16 is not just a game but can shake an entire family.
He wrote in a text message to CBC News: “Let’s thank (Xbox) for making this decision.”
By the way, there was no official statement from Microsoft regarding the Perkins case. They only confirmed that they were aware of this case.
So the early Christmas present for the Canadian father turned out well after all.
