In the world of Final Fantasy 14 there are always cosmetic additions that give players the opportunity to customize their character. Now, Square Enix offers a costume set that can already be recreated for free.
This time Square Enix brought the Ysayle costume set of a popular character from the Heavensward expansion to the store: The Iceheart costume, also known as Ysayle.
In an official tweet from Square Enix, the introduction of the Ysayle costume set was announced, accompanied by a call to say goodbye to the old outfit. However, the reactions of players to this new offer are mixed, to put it mildly.

Players are upset about the glamour, question the price
What do the players say? A player points out that it is already possible to recreate the Iceheart costume in the game for free. While this free version may not compete with the paid set, it has the crucial advantage of being dyeable – unlike the paid counterpart from the store.
The user “Inksrocket” writes on Reddit: Thank you, but I’m fine with my handcrafted, dyeable robe.

This has prompted some players to question the sensibility of the expensive purchase. The costume set costs $12 (9 euros) in the store. According to qalexiaffxiv (via twitter.com), most equipment items are already available from level 15.
This means that players who do not want to spend money can still achieve the desired look as soon as they reach the required level.
However, the paid costume set can be worn by any job, while the free one is only available to casters. There even seems to be a similar free robe for all jobs (via twitter.com), raising the question of whether the purchase price for the paid set is truly justified.
