The FFAR 1 is one of the assault rifles that came to Call of Duty: Warzone with Cold War and is becoming increasingly popular in Battle Royale. MeinMMO presents a tested FFAR setup and explains why this rapid-fire rifle is now often found in loadouts.
What kind of weapon is this? The FFAR 1 is considered a modified version of the earlier French service rifle “FAMAS” and was the predominant rifle in the French armed forces until 2017. The bullpup rifle is particularly well suited for medium distances around 300 meters and is characterized by its distinctive carrying handle, which also includes iron sights (via Wikipedia).
In Call of Duty: Warzone, the carrying handle is less noticeable, but the assault rifle draws attention through its power. The FFAR 1 combines high damage on par with submachine guns with manageable handling. This has increased the rifle’s popularity in Battle Royale, and it was already among our best weapons in Warzone shortly after its integration into Cold War as a strong assault rifle alternative.

CoD Warzone: FFAR setup as a “better” SMG
What does a strong setup look like? The FFAR offers one of the highest fire rates in Warzone and can easily compete with submachine guns on damage.
It is important that you keep the horizontal recoil, which makes the weapon jump sideways when firing, as low as possible and increase your bullet speed. This way, you can still land good hits even at distances of up to 60/70 meters, turning it into an all-around weapon that delivers strong performance at short and medium ranges.

What does this setup provide? The FFAR loses effectiveness with greater distance to the opponent, and to maximize its usage, the setup uses the foregrip to reduce recoil and the task barrel for a substantial increase in bullet speed.
It is also very important to have a larger magazine, as otherwise you only have 25 measly rounds available. The setup is rounded off by the Plunderer Stock, which does completely kill the hipfire of the weapon, but gives a significant boost to your mobility alongside the barrel. Particularly your strafing, or sideways movements while aiming, is really strong with this setup.

What could I adjust in the setup? The Plunderer Stock brings you noticeably more mobility, along with the task barrel, which is certainly optional. If you want even more bullet speed, use the “Heavy Reinforced” barrel or the “Ranger” barrel. Additionally, you can attach a scope if you don’t like the “Iron-Sight” or one of the lasers that promise better hipfire.
Immense damage allows the FFAR to dominate up to 40 meters
Where does the FFAR stand in terms of damage & range? In terms of damage, the FFAR ranks very high in Warzone. Only one automatic weapon in the game offers a lower time-to-kill (TTK) – the AS VAL. However, the VAL’s magazines are so tiny that it is only viable in solo rounds at most. Among the all-around weapons in Warzone that deliver strong performance in all modes, the FFAR ranks highest in damage.
TTK values of strong Warzone weapons (chest shots / enemies with 3 plates):
- FFAR – 467 milliseconds
- CR-56 AMAX – 476 milliseconds
- MP5 (Cold War) – 492 milliseconds
- M4A1 – 593 milliseconds
The assault rifle also does not shy away from its range. With the suggested setup, the FFAR only enters its second damage range at nearly 43 meters. Here you can see the comparison with the weapons in the graphic:
How should I use the weapon? The FFAR is a beast in close combat and causes terror for your enemies even at medium range. However, due to its very high fire rate of about 900 rounds per minute, the weapon can become shaky.
Get yourself a secondary weapon with range, like the Kar 98k or the SP-R 208, so you can switch when enemies are farther away.
Experiment with the FFAR and find out at what distance the weapon becomes inaccurate for you. Up to a distance of 50 to 70 meters, you should be able to use the gun without issues for accurate hits.
