Final Fantasy XIV Stormblood offers a cool new feature of swimming and diving along with underwater landscapes. At E3, lead developer Naoki Yoshida revealed a bit more about it and explained the fate of the lost skills.
Stormblood, the new expansion for Final Fantasy XIV, brings in addition to the Red Mage, the Samurai and the beautiful new Asian areas in the East, a completely new feature to the game: You can swim and even dive! How everything works has been explained by FF14 chief Naoki Yoshida at E3.
Final Fantasy XIV Stormblood – Swimming becomes complex
Before you dive into the waves, you must first learn to swim, and that should only be possible when you are playing the main scenario and acquire the new ability during your progress there.
Additionally, the controls are supposed to change while swimming. Yoshida therefore recommends all players to keep UI tips turned on.
Anyone who can’t get enough of swimming can also explore the Costa del Sol region underwater. The region will be enhanced with swimming and diving with Stormblood. If you want to see the underwater regions and swimming, you can admire it in an embedded video here. Have fun splashing around!
Final Fantasy XIV Stormblood – Fashion Show and New Emotes
With Stormblood, the quite complex and overloaded skill system of FF14 will be significantly streamlined. Therefore, some skills will be removed.
However, those who have grown fond of their animations can be happy. Some of the lost skills will return as emotes. According to Yoshida, a certain dragon skill might become a kind of “Poledance” emote.
Fans of visual delights can also look forward to the “Eorzea Collections” and admire armor and clothing there. The feature is introduced in the embedded trailer here. Enjoy watching!
