The new Mount Fat Cat is currently exciting many players in the MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV and is the most popular mount in the game. The community on Reddit and social media reacts to the even chunkier cat with memes and fan art.
One of the special features of FFXIV is the huge amount of different cool, funny, or downright crazy mounts in the MMORPG. The latest of these is the Fat Cat (eng. Fatter Cat).
What kind of mount is this? The mount is a larger version of the popular companion “Fat Cat”, which has existed in the game for several years. It is round, looks incredibly cute, and is called Chubbs.
The mount Fat Cat has been on the radar of FFXIV players for a few months now. Data miners first discovered it in the files of the latest patch 4.5. However, no one knew how to obtain it.

How do you get the Fat Cat? Since yesterday, the Fat Cat is available in the cash shop of Final Fantasy XIV, the Moogle Kiosk.
The hefty thing costs €16.80 (or $24), which, however, did not stop many players from purchasing the new mount. After purchase, it is available for all characters on an account.
Why is the cat so popular? Besides the high cuteness factor and its almost fluid form, Chubbs also provides plenty of fodder for memes.
People immediately pulled out the “Chonk Chart”. It was originally created by a veterinarian to categorize obesity in cats and became a meme on the internet.
On this chart, the Fat Cat would be at the top of the “Chonkers”.
Additionally, players posted pictures of the flying Fat Cat with the text “It’s a bird! It’s a plane! No, it’s a chonker!” as a reference to the Superman meme.
Players celebrate the Fat Cat with fan art: The creative minds in the FFXIV community have also immediately set to work creating numerous fan arts of the “Chonker”.
Many players are having fun with the Fat Cat, even if the hype will diminish at least after the release of the next funny mount.
