The beta of Battlefield V was used by the developers to gather player feedback. This has now led to changes in visibility, vehicles, and TTK.
For the release of Battlefield 5, there should be better visibility of enemies and a fairer Time-to-Kill and Time-to-Death. Other aspects of the shooter will be adjusted by the developers at DICE based on the beta statistics.
The developers have now officially explained which topics are currently being prioritized.
Planned Changes after the BF5 Beta
There was criticism during the testing phase of Battlefield 5 that addressed some gameplay features. DICE has already stated that spawn protection will not be part of the finished Battlefield 5. They also want to adjust the amount of ammunition.
Time-to-Kill
Now they also want to work on the important feature of Time-to-Kill (abbreviated as TTK).
What is TTK? It is the time it takes to kill an enemy after you start shooting at them. Depending on the shooter, there are various features that influence TTK. This can be armor that gives players additional health points and more resistance.
They want to work on this time frame until the launch of Battlefield 5. Currently, they are fine-tuning the automatic weapons so that TTK and TTD (Time-to-Death) “are as fair and entertaining as possible.”
What was the problem? Some players complained about dying too quickly. They had hardly any chance to use bandages or similar items when they died so fast. Others were completely satisfied with the TTK. It is up to DICE to demonstrate sensitivity here and to establish a time frame that more players are satisfied with.
Improvement of the Profanity Filter
What are the filters for? The profanity filters in online games are designed to combat insults or other toxic behavior. Some words are not spelled out but displayed as asterisks (***) instead.
What was the problem? In the Battlefield 5 beta, words like “White man”, “Titanfall”, or “DLC” were censored. Words that none of the players saw as insults or provocations. The chat filter in Battlefield 5 was in a censorship frenzy.
The filter did not work correctly and will be revised again with beta feedback by the release.
Priority List for Improvements
The following features and settings will now be prioritized by developers until the launch of Battlefield 5:
- Squad play and player search should continue to improve until release. There are no specific details on this.
- Attrition: The scarcity of health and ammunition should be “consistent”. The developers know what they need to improve based on beta feedback.
- Visibility: By adjusting fog in the distance, lighting, and contrast, enemies should be easier to recognize in the world.
- Death experience: Bleeding out and spawn times will be revised.
- Vehicles: The damage status, movement, and weapons of tanks and other vehicles will be adjusted.
- TTK and TTD: The developers are working on automatic weapons to make TTK and TTD as fair and entertaining as possible.
- Progress and customization will be adjusted to make the players’ “journey” smoother and more individualized.
- Chat obscenity filter for PC: Feedback from the open beta will be analyzed. Various changes will be made before the launch.
