An item that has been part of the inventory of Ultimate Team for 15 years will be removed in FC 25. The fans agree in their opinion about this change.
What kind of change is it? The contracts for players and managers have no place in the new FC 25 and will be removed without replacement. Contracts were needed since FIFA 09 in Ultimate Team to upgrade players with more games so they remained match-ready.
Player and manager contracts were a leftover from the founding years of Ultimate Team when there weren’t as many packs available. Meanwhile, contracts have become so abundant that they no longer held real value and could be bought on the transfer market for the minimum price of 150 coins.
After fitness cards did not survive the transition from FIFA 23 to FC 24 last year, contracts are now also affected. “Fortunately,” many fans are likely thinking about this decision.
Fans welcome the change that has “lasted long enough”
What does the community say about it? Upon the announcement that contracts are no longer part of FC 25, the community reacted largely with enthusiasm. Under the post by UT insider Fut Sheriff, the comment with the most likes is from Fantasy Soccer Talker Kev.
This user writes: “They also took long enough to get rid of that (referring to the contracts, editor’s note).” (via x.com)
The comment carries some criticism regarding why EA took until FC 25 to make this move.
And indeed, one must say that contracts have hardly received attention in recent years and were perceived by most players rather as a waste of time.
User Simon Tuckerman shares this view: “It was such a waste of time to apply 11 contract cards. Everyone had over 500 of them in their club, so it was just outdated.” (via x.com)
In the end, EA likely made the right move with this decision. The reactions from the fans alone reveal that. However, this leaves not much left among the consumables for FC 25. Only the chemistry styles, manager leagues, and healing items remain for the new EA FC.
