According to consistent leaks from well-known insiders, a new mode for Ultimate Team is expected to be introduced in FC 25. Apparently, EA is making a new attempt to revive the flair of an old FIFA fan favorite.
What is this new mode? A new mode is supposed to appear in FC 25 that is inspired by the already known Volta mode, but promises more freedom and new features. In addition, it is supposed to be integrated into the other modes rather than being separated like Volta.
Various names have been circulating for the designation of the new mode. The most common names encountered online are “Penta” or “Rush”. Penta (Greek for “five”) could hint at the number of players in the game, indicating that it is a 5vs5 mode. Rush (English for “to hurry/race”), on the other hand, likely describes the nature of the game, which should involve quick plays and ball exchanges.
The most well-known leakers have already gathered initial information about what innovations the mode will bring. We will show them to you.
New 5vs5 Mode for FC 25: All Leaks at a Glance
One of the most well-known leakers, “futdonk”, has compiled the known innovations for the new mode on his X account. So far, only a few details are known.
We would like to point out at this point that leaks do not have a hundred percent validity. Whether and how the mode will appear in the new game remains uncertain until the release of FC 25.
What we know so far about the new mode:
- there will be a new 5vs5 mode
- the new mode will be part of Ultimate Team and Clubs
- at the kick-off, there will be a race for the ball
- penalty kicks will be conducted like in (ice) hockey in a penalty 1vs1, meaning the shooter runs from the center towards the goal and tries to overcome the goalkeeper
- players can be penalized with a time ban for serious fouls, time penalties will be imposed with a blue card
Which popular FIFA series does the mode remind us of? The more open concept is reminiscent of the old FIFA Street days. The first game in the popular series was released in 2005. Fans will fondly remember the cool arenas, quirky commentator catchphrases, and skillful gameplay on the streets of the world.
With the Volta mode, EA tried to capture the charm of the old street games. However, it seems that Volta has not really been well received by the community.
According to the latest leaks, the still-young Volta mode, which was only introduced in FIFA 20, is facing elimination. Various FIFA insiders believe that Volta will be replaced by the new Rush/Penta mode.
