In FC 24 there is currently a pack in the shop making waves. While even hardcore pay-to-win streamers complain about the value for money, for another expert it is primarily the side effects in the transfer market that cast a bad light on the pack.
What kind of pack is this? The “Premier League TOTS Duo Guarantee Pack” is a special promo pack that has been released in line with the Team of the Season (TOTS) of the Premier League . This guarantees the following contents (all items are untradeable):
- 2 guaranteed Premier League TOTS professionals, of which 1 is guaranteed to have a minimum of 92 overall rating
- 35 rare gold professionals with a minimum of 84, of which 3 have a minimum of 88 overall rating
For a proud price of 750,000 coins or 5,000 FC Points, you can secure the pack. In the shop, you can currently obtain 5,900 FC Points for the price of €49.99, meaning you would essentially have to pay 50 Euros for the guaranteed TOTS pack.
One of Germany’s most well-known streaming duos tested the pack multiple times and was largely disappointed with the results. Another content creator, in the meantime, is struggling with the consequences in the transfer market on his new account.
Shop pack guarantees TOTS, but at what price?
Are the guaranteed TOTS packs worth it? This question was also posed by the guys from the streaming duo Tisi Schubech (here you can find their YouTube channel). Their channel is known for regularly providing pack openings. Money is not a concern for the content creators.
For their new format, where both compete against each other for the first time in many years, they independently opened the new pack. You can see what they pulled and how their reactions turned out in this short video clip:
“It’s always the same”: Pay2Win streamer first “in shock”, but then …
In the video, both can be seen taking turns to pull the guaranteed TOTS packs. The first 3 packs confirm what their community had already suspected.
Instead of pulling a truly expensive card, they got the cheapest TOTS players from the Premier League in the first 3 attempts. None of the displayed cards exceed a price of 60,000 coins. Particularly frustrating when considering that actually 10 of the 15 TOTS players from the Premier League cost over 500,000 coins, most even surpassing the million mark.
At least one of the guys was able to celebrate in the last pack with the cheapest of the more expensive cards after he had loudly complained about the other players drawn and about EA beforehand.
In the end, a total of 200 Euros stood opposite a TOTS that costs 600,000 coins. Accordingly, the conclusion of the Pay2Win streamers for purchasing such a pack is: “Burned a fifty”.
What other effects does the pack have on the game? The mere offering of such a pack, even if one is not tempted to buy it, has immediate consequences for the transfer market in Ultimate Team and thus for all players.
Although the chance of pulling a truly expensive player from the TOTS pack is extremely low (see the example of Tisi Schubech). Still, there are some people who will spend money and, with a good portion of luck, pull an expensive card. This leads to many more, also more coveted TOTS cards entering circulation, which drives down the price of many TOTS players.
Another streamer had to painfully experience this as well.
Even RTG streamer in despair: “I’m done with the game”
FIFA expert GamerBrother (here you can find his YouTube channel) is actually refraining from purchasing this shop pack, at least on his road-to-glory (RTG). Unlike pay-to-win accounts, RTG players pay close attention to not investing real money in the game.
He could not escape the effects of the pack on the transfer market either, as you can see in this video clip:
According to his own statements, Gamerbrother lost 800,000 coins because he bought a TOTS card for over 2 million, which quickly fell in price shortly afterwards. He mainly blames the guaranteed TOTS pack for this rapid price drop.
For an RTG account, 800,000 coins represent a severe loss. The content creator emphasizes several times that he had saved extra long to invest in a strong card. Clearly, nothing came of that.
