The next major update for FC 24 is available for download. It is all about the European Championship, which starts next week in Germany. The update brings as a highlight a EURO mode, but also 7 other important changes for all modes.
What is this update? The update is called “Festival of Football” or translated “Football Festival”. EA announces in the published Pitch Notes (via ea.com) that they invite everyone to develop a lot of excitement for the upcoming European Championship with the update.
As a highlight in this regard, you can expect the new “UEFA EURO 2024 Game Mode,” which is now playable. In this new mode, the following options are available to you:
- The European Path: Here you can earn bonuses for the professional and manager career, as well as for Ultimate Team through challenges
- UEFA EURO 2024: In a separate tournament, you can create your own story with your favorite team at EURO 2024. You have the choice to play in the official groups of EURO 2024 or create your own groups *
- Lead your country: Choose a real professional or create your own player to advance to the final of EURO 2024. During the tournament, you can choose whether to play only with your player or with the entire team *
- Kickoff/Online Friendlies: Play at home or online against your friends or other opponents with the teams and atmosphere of EURO 2024 *
*You can add teams that did not qualify for EURO 2024 as you wish
But not only the EURO mode is new. We will show you more significant changes below.
EURO Update brings 7 other important changes
1. Change: New live event in Ultimate Team starts on June 7
In Ultimate Team, Season 7 starts, which like the update also has the title “Football Festival”. The Season Pass includes more players than ever before. All cards that you can earn are part of a new live event.
The Path-to-Glory event starts on Friday, June 07, in Ultimate Team. Here you can expect dynamic cards that can upgrade over time. The upgrades depend on the real performances of the player nations in the following international tournaments:
- UEFA Euro 2024
- Copa América

2. Change: New dynamic Icon and Hero versions in Ultimate Team
Alongside the special versions of the regular cards, new live versions of the Icons and Heroes are also coming. These cards have been titled “Greats of the Game” by EA. They can also improve their rating or other abilities based on the performances of their national teams during UEFA Euro 2024 and Copa América.

3. Change: New system for loan cards in Ultimate Team
Until the end of Season 7 (July 18), you can receive new loan cards. These new cards are not usable for a certain number of matches, as is usually the case, but you receive them for a fixed period. The period is the same for all players around the world. Your loan cards will have a timer, and when it runs out, your loan card will no longer be available.
You will receive the first new loan card when you log in during the Path-to-Glory event in Ultimate Team. Then you will get a limited-time Path-to-Glory loan card.
4. Change: New cold celebration by shooting star Cole Palmer
You can now use the famous “I’m ice cold” celebration that Chelsea star Cole Palmer often performed after scoring this season.
At first, you can only perform the celebration with Palmer himself. However, in Ultimate Team, he is also part of the new Season Pass and can be unlocked by you at level 20.
5. Change: New special move – Double Touch Lane Change
This trick is a mix of the reverse elastico and the La Croqueta. After our first test attempts, the skill move could have the advantage of being explosively starting. Additionally, the change of direction does not seem as drastic as with the other two tricks.

The skill can be executed by all 4-star skillers as follows: L2 + Right Stick (90 degrees to the direction of movement) held down on PlayStation or LT + Right Stick (90 degrees to the direction of movement) held down on Xbox.
6. Change: New game faces for 27 players
Shortly after the launch of the Football Festival live event, a number of new player faces should also be added. This likely primarily concerns professionals from the Premier League. EA has already revealed 4 prominent examples. The most notable one can be seen here:

7. Change: Double XP for Clubs players
The coming weeks could also be rewarding for players who want to launch in Clubs mode online. In Clubs, you create your own Pro and found your own club or join an existing club. Online, you can then compete against real opponents with your friends or other players, climb up leagues, or win trophies.
For each completed match, you receive experience points that are now doubled, depending on your performance. With experience points, you reach new levels and can upgrade your Pro.
